Our friend Nick Irving was able to get a last-minute trip in to see this year and he brought us back a nice little gallery of photos from the fest. There’s a few shots in there of the crowd, the vibes, and some . He also managed to shoot (again) and he got plenty of throughout the weekend as well. Next year we need to ask for a photo pass earlier to get some of the crunchy shots you’d expect, but for now enjoy was Nick was able to bring back on limited access and look for us in the photo pits next year. >>>

Gelston Castle Estate, Mohawk, NY

While we’ve obviously been covering the hell out of the Phish Summer Tour, we’re also hella excited about this weekend’s annual Festival in Mohawk, NY. Our friend Nick Irving is going to be on-site shooting photos for the site (as best he can; we were too late to get a photo pass for the pit) and we’ll hope to have some coverage up after the fact. This lineup is eclectic as hell and the announcement is something I love to see year after year. While it’s definitely stacked with heavy hitters that you’d know and love already — , with Levon Helm Band, , etc. — I’d take a look at the following artists on the lineup and make sure they get your full attention as well. The lineup for 2011 just dropped with Eminem, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Muse and at the top of the list of artists set to play this year’s 20th anniversary festival. The support behind the headliners is tight as well, with , A Perfect Circle, , , and tons of other artists already announced in this first round press blitz. The lineup for 2011 was just announced, nearly a full day early here on the West Coast and the same day that Electric Forest announced their lineup. Some fans may consider a tough choice between the two festivals, but not me and about 50 other friends out here in California. is an obvious choice as it is, but with headlining the 21st annual festival and , , Warren Haynes, , and more joining them for the weekend, it seems even that much more obvious where I’ll be headed.

Here’s the initial list of artists scheduled to attend:

My Morning Jacket
Ween
Neko Case

Yonder Mountain String Band

Dr. Dog

Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk

Bill Frisell’s Beautiful Dreamers

The Travelin’ McCourys

Audio Angel
and many more TBA…

The lineup was announced via the festival’s YouTube channel, just like last year…

Post image for High Sierra 2011: Ween to Headline Sunday, Lineup Coming Soon

While the heavily rumored news of a potential Phish festival in upstate NY at the Watkins Glen Raceway is potentially imminent, I’m still eagerly awaiting the lineup for this year’s Music Festival in Quincy, CA. I’ve now gone two years in a row and I’ll be considering it a fine tradition in my summers going forward, and nothing has beaten it for me in terms of overall festival experiences. This year it looks like will be part of that experience for me, as they let the cat out of the bag today on ween.com that they’d be headlining the final day of this year’s festival. The same has been confirmed on the High Sierra website:

We’ll post the lineup as it comes in.

Who do you want to see this year to help you make the decision easier between this and the big Phish Festival 9 possibly happening on the East Coast?

Bonnaroo just announced a number of additions to its 2010 lineup, including: , , Umphrey’s McGee, , and .

Preview: Day Three @ Outside Lands 2009

Day three of Outside Lands is about to begin, and I need to hightail-it down to Golden Gate Park so I can catch some of the set by The Morning Benders. I’m having a blast at the festival so far and I’d rather get down there to enjoy the music, so just assume that I’m [...]
