I’m just moving onto the beginning of set two from Phish’s epic return to the stage last night at Fenway Park, and I have to say that this really is a new Phish that we haven’t seen in years. With a few debuts, a few stunning setlist choices, and some beginnings of the new jamming style that the band is still working through just as the audience is, I’m totally convinced that this band is highly respecting the fact that their fans want to see a Phish they can get excited about again.
From the sound of the source I have, it’s pretty clear the boys are excited again themselves.
With that, I thought I’d start a post to roundup all the Phish downloads I can find from the entire Summer Tour while calling immediate attention to the need for everyone to download their own copy of the Fenway Park show, one for the record books if you ask me.
Official Downloads:
Phish 5/31/09, Fenway Park, Boston, MA [MP3, FLAC]
Audience Sources:
Phish – May 31, 2009 @ Fenway Park, Boston [24-bit FLAC]
In case you are not able to make it down to Austin for South by Southwest, fear not, you can still get your ears wrapped around the music.
Follow this link to a torrent at Greg Hewgill’s website with a ton of free, legal music from this year’s artists.
Thanks to Macworld for the heads up.

Jazzfest wrapped up this past weekend after two weeks of celebrating music, food, and culture in the Big Easy. JamBase sent a couple folks and they’ve got some fantastic coverage up. Danfun went and he’ll be posting some photos over at Hidden Track soon enough. What about us?
Well, we didn’t go. Meh.
That would never really stop me from rounding up some of the live downloads from the festival here as a solid resource to the fans like me that didn’t make it down there. If you find any that I don’t have, feel free to email me or post the link in the comments. I’ll keep updating as the recordings come in.

So…speaking to all the folks that did go — how was it?
moe. – 2.19.04 – Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, IL
I debated going to this show, but I ultimately decided that this is not the way to go. The one and only time I’ve seen moe. was at the Aragon, and I never seem to see a good show at this venue. This setlist does look hot, and I haven’t downloaded a moe. show in a while, so let’s check this one out together.
Umphrey’s McGee – 2.18.05 – Barrymore Theater, Madison, WI
I’m going to Umphrey’s McGee at the Riv on March 26, the day before Easter. See you there…
Dave Matthews Band – 10.31.96 – McNichols Arena, Denver, CO
I used to be a huge Dave Matthews Band fan before they started getting stale to me. This was their prime if you ask me.
Got any others that you’ve downloaded lately that are too hot to pass up? Drop me a line at justin AT livemusicblog.com.
Also, Chris has added a “Suggested Listening” section to his personal blog that is quite a good idea. Look for something like this in the near future.
