Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have announced an extensive North American summer tour and their first studio album in eight years, called Mojo, slated for release later this Spring. Their summer tour will feature a bunch of different openers, including My Morning Jacket, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Joe Cocker, ZZ Top, and the Drive-By Truckers. Also, online ticket-buyers will get a free digital version of the new album. They’ve got a track from that album, “Good Enough,” available for streaming on their website if you want to get a taste of what’s to come.
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers are releasing a four-disc box set called The Live Anthology on November 24th, and it’s shaping up to be a monster on paper. Shepard Fairey is designing the cover. Rad.
On November 24th, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers will release their career-spanning The Live Anthology, a four-disc set that features some of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers’ best onstage performances from 1978 to 2007. Anthology will feature no overdubs and a 48-song track list selected by Petty, Mike Campbell and Ryan Ulyate. In addition to the band’s own hits, The Live Anthology also finds the Heartbreakers covering the Grateful Dead’s “Friend of the Devil,” the Zombies’ “I Want You Back Again,” James Brown’s “Good, Good Lovin’” and more. Artist Shepard Fairey, who recently designed the Barack Obama cover of Rolling Stone, will provide cover art for the set.
