This is another one of those week’s of live music in NYC that requires some serious skills with scheduling and logistics. There are a ton of great shows and there’s just not enough time, energy, and cash flow to take them all in. Since I’m still out of pocket, and there’s so much to choose from, I’m foregoing my normal highlight reel and just going with the entire list. Call me a slacker if you will, but given all these options, I think I’m mainly just indecisive…
Interesting shows from this week’s NYC concert calendar:

The lineup for the Treasure Island Music Festival was just announced, promptly crashing the Treasure Island website and bringing down the Noise Pop site with it. Whoops.
Here’s the scoop from Pitchfork:
The first day, headlined by (somewhat surprisingly) Empire of the Sun, has a lineup that leans toward stuff with dancey electronic influences: Cut Copy, Death From Above 1979, Flying Lotus, Battles, Chromeo, Dizzee Rascal, Shabazz Palaces, YACHT, Buraka Som Sistema, the Naked and Famous, Aloe Blacc, and Geographer. Death Cab for Cutie headline the second day, which is way heavier on guitars, bass, and drums. Explosions in the Sky, Beach House, the Hold Steady, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, St. Vincent, the Antlers, Wild Beasts, Warpaint, Thee Oh Sees, Weekend, Friendly Fires, and the Head and the Heart will all play.
Seeing Flying Lotus and Battles on the same day makes me beyond excited and it may mean I will finally make it out onto the shuttle buses to see this festival once and for all. I’ve heard good things but I’ve also heard the crowd and the vibe skews younger than some of the other festivals that get me psyched up, and despite last year’s LCD Soundsystem headlining slot, I’d never been too amped on who they’d booked to be the main talent on the lineup. This year’s choices of Death Cab for Cutie and Empire of the Sun won’t be enough to change that sentiment but the other talent on the lineup would be great to catch on that floating enclave in the middle of the Bay. After many festivals together, this year’s Mountain Jam was going to be different. This year my wife and I would have a six-month old child with us, our son Harry. As I discussed in an earlier post, we had no idea what to expect. READ MORE

The second incarnation of Rothbury Festival is back on the Fourth of July weekend with a lineup that will satisfy any jamband fan living in these great independent states, and I’m just now getting around to posting the lineup for everyone to see (not that you haven’t already seen this elsewhere). I’m already booked for High Sierra or I would be hitting this festival myself, but lucky for us the fine folks behind Rothbury Festival are sponsoring the site for the month leading up to the festival. And we get to celebrate that by giving away a pair of tickets for all 4-days of the festival. READ MORE
It’s officially a proper start to the summer festival season with today’s first day of Coachella underway as I type this. The lineup didn’t necessarily blow me away this year, so thankfully for my skin and my pocketbook I won’t be in attendance. But I will get to enjoy some of the action from home thanks to the ever-present corporate webcasting giant, AT&T. Over on their new iteration of the Blueroom is a site called AT&T Music, and they’ll be webcasting all weekend from Coachella. Tune in today at 2:50pm PST when the actions kicks off.
