Bumbershoot 2010 Welcome SignWelcome to !

Well, it’s been a long week of recovering from “festival flu” after just two days at Bumbershoot 2010; it was so bad that we couldn’t get out of bed Monday morning to catch the last day of the festival. We did, however, make it to the second day and snapped some good photos from the Sunday sets. READ MORE

Who doesn’t love Labor Day Weekend? One last three-day weekend to close out the summer months and music to see across the country: the inaugural North Coast Music Festival in Chicago, Jazz Aspen Snowmass in Aspen, FYF Fest in Los Angeles, plenty of East Coast stuff that I’m not even aware of, and last but not least, Bumbershoot Festival here in Seattle (which I’ll be covering all weekend here at LMB).  If you’re in the Seattle area the forecast is 70° and not a cloud in the sky for most of the weekend, and last-minute day passes are about $50 and cheaper if you opt for the non-mainstage ticket option.  Regardless, here’s 10 bands acts I’ll be checking out this weekend and be sure to stop here at in the next few days for some photo coverage of the festival. Also, I’ll be tweeting occasionally at @burning_oak so follow along there if you’re interested in following along… READ MORE

The lineup for Bumbershoot 2010 in Seattle was just announced, too. They’ve tapped Bob Dylan, , Weezer, Hole and more for this year’s festival set for Labor Day weekend, which is marking the 40th year that the event has been taking place. Our buddy Kane will likely be there covering the event for us, and he already pinged me and said he’s looking forward to the event.

After finally getting to see Red Rocks for the first time with the four-night Phish run, I’m instantly drawn to the Monolith Festival given the location and the lineup this year. There’s some really solid stuff on the bill, but there’s enough overlap in the coming months that I think I’ll get to see most of these artists in another setting, albeit nothing like the iconic Red Rocks Ampitheatre. I had an incredible time at the venue itself, so throw in some of the best indie bands of the moment and you’ve got yourself a solid two-day festival. READ MORE

I’m excited to be heading out tonight to catch The Dandy Warhols at The Warfield, with another band I like quite a bit, The Helio Sequence, as one of the openers. Not a bad choice for a Saturday night. I think I need a night out with just me and the music. This band and their pop psychedelia might just be exactly what the doctor ordered for me to help melt away some of the stresses of the past week.

I wouldn’t go out a limb and say that I’m a huge fan of The Dandy Warhols, but I saw that they announced a decent tour today and I was curious to see what some of our readers thought about the band. Their stuff is kinda fun, poppy and psychedelic, which is great, but I have no clue how they come off live. One band that does fun, poppy, and psychedelic that I have been enjoying for quite some time would be , and I got into them once I heard how well they sounded live (and not really at all before that time). So maybe that’s me and these guys. Plus, the first single off their new album, Earth to the Dandy Warhols, is a seriously funky delight.

Anybody seen them recently? Anyone seen DiG!? Do share your comments. As for the band, they’re up in BC for the next two nights and then onto various stops and cities around the US. Read on for the tour dates…

(As a side note: I really remember loving that video above when it came out — the dancers are my favorite part).
