Post image for Moogfest 2011: Daily Schedule Announced

You been paying attention this year? We’re digging on their lineup and the daily schedule has been announced already. In addition to the top-tier lineup covered in untz and whomp, this year will feature the festival along with an expansion to a number of new venues in the Asheville proper. In addition to shows at the Asheville Civic Center Arena, Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, and the Orange Peel, they’ve also added the newly renovated Asheville Music Hall (formerly Stella Blue) and the Diana Wortham Theatre, and plan to announce another outdoor venue soon.

Asheville, North Carolina’s festival ode to all things electronic music and Moog, Moogfest, just added some power to its already-solid lineup for 2011. Today, they threw a few new names into the mix, including , (featuring and of DFA/LCD Soundsystem), , and , among a bunch of others.

This fleshes out an already-stellar lineup of acts that cross the spectrum of electronic genres and styles, including three pioneers of electronic music: , and (who will perform their influential 1977 self-titled debut album in its entirety). Some other notable acts on the bill include: , , , , , , , , and Umphrey’s McGee, just to name a few.

takes place October 28-30 at various venues throughout Asheville. Tickets are on sale now. Full lineup after the jump… READ MORE

This week’s -area concert calendar is bumpin’! The Allmans Brothers are back at the Beacon, ’s at the Count Basie Theatre, play the Williamsburg Waterfront, we’ve got two shows by reunited 90s alt-rock titans (Bush and STP), and this oddball lineup of , and are all at Jones Beach.

But, as usual, it’s the smaller club shows — and, in this case, the boat cruises — that interest me most. For something a bit more rock-based and singer-songwriter-y, check out and/or at the intimate Rockwood Music Hall. Or, get a little edgier with Sonny & The Sunsets et al over at the Glasslands Gallery in Williamsburg. But if you can only choose one, I highly recommend the on the Rocks Off Concert Cruise for some groove-laden horn funk by the dudes laying down instrumentals for the majority of Daptone Records releases. Can’t be beat.

The lineup for the 10th annual Sasquatch Music Festival has just been announced. Once again the fest returns to the Gorge in Washington state for Memorial Day weekend, but this year the festival will be extended to four days, plenty of time to host the stacked half of the lineup with , , , and all commanding bold font at the top of the list. Here’s the entire list of artists scheduled to perform:

Foo Fighters, Death Cab For Cutie, Modest Mouse, Wilco, The Flaming Lips (performing The Soft Bulletin & more), , Bright Eyes, Iron & Wine, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Bassnectar, Robyn, Flogging Molly, Death From Above 1979, Pink Martini, Cold War Kids, Old 97’s, Ratatat, Wolf Parade, , Guided By Voices, , Beach House, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Local Natives, Matt & Kim, Deerhunter, Mstrkrft, Trailer Park Boys, Sleigh Bells, Major Lazer, , Skrillex, Tokyo Police Club, Fitz & The Tantrums, !!!, Archers of Loaf, Against Me!, The Thermals, Best Coast, CSS, Surfer Blood, Jenny & Johnny, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Head & The Heart, Bonobo (DJ Set), City and Colour, Reggie Watts, K-Os, Gayngs, Tim Minchin, , The Radio Dept, Young the Giant, The Antlers, Sharon Van Etten, Villagers, Stornoway, Aloe Blacc, Black Mountain, Moondoggies, Noah & The Whale, Sam Roberts Band, Secret Sisters, , Das Racist, Wye Oak, Tig Notaro, Wheedle’s Groove, Smith Westerns, Rival Schools, Foster the People, Alberta Cross, S. Carey, White Denim, Washed Out, , Dan Mangan, Axis of Awesome, The Globes, Cotton Jones, Jaill, Mad Rad, Basia Bulat, Other Lives, The Bronx, White Arrows, Pepper Rabbit, Talkdemonic, Rebecca Gates and The Consortium, The Young Evils

Not bad at all.

I’m sure there will be more artist announcements in the coming weeks as everything gets finalized; I’d also expect a host of comedy acts to get announced soon as well. For myself I’m not sure the headliners are bands I’m wild enough about to travel up the West Coast for this party, but anything at the Gorge is something I consider and I’ve heard people consistently rave about as one of the better festivals during the year.
