Annie Clark’s much-raved about band St. Vincent played at Tipitina’s last night in support of her expansive cinemasterpiece Strange Mercy, an excellent 3rd offering from the indie chanteuse whose fame and following continues to grow with each record (further helped by endorsements by artists like Beck). Our Julia Pretus was there to capture a few shots from the show. Were you there? If so, please tell us about the show in the comments! Continue on for the gallery after the jump.
Post image for Moogfest 2011: Daily Schedule Announced

You been paying attention this year? We’re digging on their lineup and the daily schedule has been announced already. In addition to the top-tier lineup covered in untz and whomp, this year will feature the festival along with an expansion to a number of new venues in the Asheville proper. In addition to shows at the Asheville Civic Center Arena, Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, and the Orange Peel, they’ve also added the newly renovated Asheville Music Hall (formerly Stella Blue) and the Diana Wortham Theatre, and plan to announce another outdoor venue soon.

Asheville, North Carolina’s festival ode to all things electronic music and Moog, Moogfest, just added some power to its already-solid lineup for 2011. Today, they threw a few new names into the mix, including , (featuring and Pat Mahoney of DFA/), , and , among a bunch of others.

This fleshes out an already-stellar lineup of acts that cross the spectrum of electronic genres and styles, including three pioneers of electronic music: , and (who will perform their influential 1977 self-titled debut album in its entirety). Some other notable acts on the bill include: , , , , , , , , and Umphrey’s McGee, just to name a few.

2011 takes place October 28-30 at various venues throughout Asheville. Tickets are on sale now. Full lineup after the jump… READ MORE

Post image for Treasure Island Music Festival 2011: Battles, Warpaint, FlyLo & More

The lineup for the was just announced, promptly crashing the Treasure Island website and bringing down the site with it. Whoops.

Here’s the scoop from Pitchfork:

The first day, headlined by (somewhat surprisingly) , has a lineup that leans toward stuff with dancey electronic influences: , , , , , , , , , , Aloe Blacc, and . headline the second day, which is way heavier on guitars, bass, and drums. , , the Hold Steady, , , , , , , , , and will all play.

Seeing Flying Lotus and Battles on the same day makes me beyond excited and it may mean I will finally make it out onto the shuttle buses to see this festival once and for all. I’ve heard good things but I’ve also heard the crowd and the vibe skews younger than some of the other festivals that get me psyched up, and despite last year’s headlining slot, I’d never been too amped on who they’d booked to be the main talent on the lineup. This year’s choices of Death Cab for Cutie and Empire of the Sun won’t be enough to change that sentiment but the other talent on the lineup would be great to catch on that floating enclave in the middle of the Bay.
