However, Saturday was when the full realization hit that this fest really was about as grab bag as a musical gathering can be – headed up by the fact that the SoCal Punk Retrospective was going down (out of the three bands, X was the strongest, delivering an impressive evening set on the Bingo! Stage) the same day as the New Orleans Bounce Azzstravaganza (a well-choreographed riot and a blast), Snoop Dogg and a main stage/mid-afternoon Mastodon rager

The lineup for this year’s music festival in has been something we’re covering a bit better over at our sister site, LMB NOLA, but if you’ve been paying attention you know that it’s a blast from the past, 1990′s style. Headlining this year’s festival will be , who’ve returned to the stage with a reunion this year and nailing the nostalgia thing big-time for our friends over at Coventry Music. And we’ve got another one folks…a new festival in our midst. Taking one more step towards the greening of the festival scene, Madison House has teamed with AEG Live to create a brand-new, environmentally sustainable music festival in the woods of western Michigan.

What appears to be a Northern version of the Echo Project, the Rothbury Fest has stacked up one heck of a lineup for its first incarnation over the July 4th holiday weekend (July 3 – 6, 2008). Headliners include , , , 311, Phil Lesh and Friends, , , , . Check it out…
