This is a week to give thanks. Thanks to family, friends, good health, good food, and…..multi-night runs in ! Yep, for some reason, this week in NYC shows seems to be the week of two- and three-night stands including , the Cure, , and & the Family Band, just to name a few.

The lineup for Jam Cruise 9 was just posted with , , , and many more set to sail to Mexico early next January. The ship is set to stop at Roatan, Honduras and Costa Maya, Mexico, all the while transforming a normal cruise ship into the world’s best floating music festival. I’m not sure this lineup is enough to get me there, but I know some friends that already pre-booked and I imagine we’ll see a few more artists added the next few weeks as they work to get people booking reservations. We’ll see…I’m always on the fence with this one given how committed it is, but I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it.

, Umphrey’s McGee (2 sets including a late night), , and the Family Band, 7 Walkers featuring and Bill Kreutzmann, , Dub Tribe Soundsystem, Fishbone, Mark Farina, Todd Snider, Mother Hips, , Tortured Soul, , Spacemen, MiM0SA, Pimps of Joytime (2 sets), That One Guy (2 sets), Ekoostik Hookah, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Great American Taxi, Constellations, The Dirty Heads, Lynx & Jamie Janover, Jay Nash (2 sets), Supervillains, The Moondoggies, The Bridge, (2 sets), The Heavy Pets, Spoonfed Tribe, Sunshine Jones, Kinetix, Truckstop Honeymoon (2 sets), Oakhurst (2 sets), Ben Miller Band , Somasphere and Radio Hiro.

With a few exceptions, it seems like is sticking close to their jam-heavy roots on this one. A number of similar festivals are on hiatus for 2010 (Rothbury and 10KLF), so it’ll be interesting to see how this year’s Wakarusa fares against the rest of the competition in the middle of the country. Like New Year’s Eve, is another holiday that a lot of bands choose to celebrate in style. There’s just something about mixing the live concert experience with all the fun and choas of that really brings out the freaks. While most bands typically play into the vibe in some way, touring bands often approach as an opportunity to really create a unique live music event. Just as we did with our New Year’s Eve concert round-up, we’ve compiled a list of Halloween concerts that will be going on this weekend (see below for the long list).

We have also noticed a few bands that are taking a similar approach to Halloween as by doing some sort of “musical costume” and either covering another band’s music or playing a full show of thematic covers. Here are a few of the more interesting “musical costumes” we’ve seen announced this year:
