Post image for Moving On After Pink Floyd Week

Sure, we know it’s Monday and we’ve already officially started a new week here at LMB HQ, but we also needed a proper wrap-up on the festivities and celebrations surrounding last week here on the site. It was Wes that threw the idea out and I had tons of friends get interested in it, so much so that we had tons of contributions that you may have missed. For all of our Week posts, make sure you hit this page here and go back in time with it.

And as an editorial outtro and official closer on the week, my good friend Jackson Haddad (of One Way Station) wrote up this amazing piece of how their music affected him growing up… READ MORE

Post image for Roger Waters Was Psyched on Pink Floyd Week

Roger Waters just posted this on his Facebook page.

In the wake of week on the Jimmy Fallon Show, I’d just like to thank all the musicians who performed covers.

As I said on Tuesday, I thought version of Breath was an inspired and beautiful interpretation.

The were terrific, great energy, great musicians, great fun to play with, thank you guys.

, playing Lucifer Sam brought back lots of memories of Syd and those early years, I thought theirs was a very moving homage to him, also nice yellow trousers and lobsters and knots.

Wish you were here!! Dierks, I was truly moved. I loved the fiddle, the pedal steel, you sang it beautifully, Hank Williams would have been proud of you.

And finally ’s Mother, what a fitting conclusion to the week. Thank you all it means a lot.

-Roger

Love it.

Post image for QUOTE: John Shannon on Pink Floyd

When I was a kid, 6 yrs old or so, my uncle used to give me tapes to check out. I would take them and play them on an old boom box while I acted out some kind of Highlander journey playing with toy guns and swords in the basement. Whatever tape I put on would become my theme music. He had given me Ummagumma which I gladly accepted because of song names such as “Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict” and “Astronomy Domine.” Needless to say I think it influenced my inner journey that day, definitely took me to some new places in my mind, and served as a great intro into a life of listening to Floyd while appreciating their psychedelic origins.
