Earlier yesterday fans of the on Facebook and Twitter started to get treated to the official lineup announcement slowly but surely leaking out over the interwebs. I was busy so didn’t really have time to digest it, but waking up this morning to the official announcement and seeing that , Umphrey’s McGee, and are all at the top of the lineup is a nice treat for any fans in Illinois that regularly make this festival. I used to attend this back in my formidable years in the Midwest and have nothing but fond memories and continued respect for the lineups that these guys have been putting together. READ MORE

Gelston Castle Estate, Mohawk, NY

While we’ve obviously been covering the hell out of the Phish Summer Tour, we’re also hella excited about this weekend’s annual Festival in Mohawk, NY. Our friend Nick Irving is going to be on-site shooting photos for the site (as best he can; we were too late to get a photo pass for the pit) and we’ll hope to have some coverage up after the fact. This lineup is eclectic as hell and the announcement is something I love to see year after year. While it’s definitely stacked with heavy hitters that you’d know and love already — , with Levon Helm Band, , etc. — I’d take a look at the following artists on the lineup and make sure they get your full attention as well. The lineup for this year’s music festival in New Orleans has been something we’re covering a bit better over at our sister site, LMB NOLA, but if you’ve been paying attention you know that it’s a blast from the past, 1990′s style. Headlining this year’s festival will be , who’ve returned to the stage with a reunion this year and nailing the nostalgia thing big-time for our friends over at Coventry Music. Along with that major reunion, this year’s festival will welcome and a return to form by as the big names on the lineup. Plus LMB faves & and relative newcomers Givers would get all the attention from us they rightfully deserve. Past that, I’m not sure who I’d be excited to see… read on for the full lineup…

Summer in is now in full swing and we’ve got a busy week of local shows already upon us. I’m getting stoked for two shows this weekend, which should both be stellar. Friday night I’ll be heading out on the Hudson to join on “the Big F-ing Boat” (aka the Rocks Off Concert Cruise). Saturday is all about catching rock out at the Bowery Ballroom, which is why I posted the video above from one of their Austin shows in march. I’m really digging their new album D and can’t wait to see them bring their dual-guitar madness to the Bowery this weekend.

Also, we just got word that will be doing a free, “secret show” at LPR tonight at midnight…which is pretty rad if you can pull off the late-night midweek show. Read on for shows we recommend this week…

Post image for Jam Cruise 10 Lineup Announced!

The lineup for was announced first thing this morning here on the West Coast, and I couldn’t be happier that I’ve already taken the plunge and pre-booked a cabin for the 10th anniversary of the floating festival that everybody has been raving about for years. This will be my first year on the boat, so I’ll be seeing plenty of unbelievably great music all while sailing the seas and partying with my fellow like-minded fans. Can’t wait.

One of the bigger reveals of the lineup has been the port destinations that the cruise is choosing, and this time the festival is setting sail a full week after New Year’s Eve with a January 9th departure n Ft. Lauderdale to make stops in Labadee, Haiti and then onto Falmouth, Jamaica. The whole thing winds back down on January 14th, 2012. Umphrey’s McGee, , , , Shpongle, New Mastersounds, , and are just some of the artists I’m excited to get a crack at seeing this year, and there’s tons more talent rounding out the lineup this year.

As hedonistic as the whole vacation is, I’m actually proud that the organizers thought to bring a stop by Haiti into the equation. More about those efforts were detailed in today’s press release… READ MORE
