Now that summer is over, the fall tour announcements are coming at a fast pace. Check out dates below from Umphrey’s McGee, who just announced their New Year’s Eve run will be three nights at the Riveria in Chicago, along with Ali Baba’s Tahini, Plants and Animals, Built to Spill, OK Go and Here We Go Magic. OK Go have re-entered the world of internet stardom that they’re used to with the release of the second version of their video for “This Too Shall Pass,” the lead single off their latest album Of The Blue Colour Of The Sky. If you haven’t seen the video yet, it’s an instant classic.
“Today, as the record industry’s revenue model has collapsed with the digitization of its biggest commodities, companies are cutting back spending on all but their biggest stars, and not signing nearly as many new acts. This should be a good year for the band, and hopefully they’ll find their way to the top of their own version of the new music industry model, ala make a viral video, make another one, make two more, then earn your artistic freedom. Not a bad approach by any means… READ MORE
After finally getting to see Red Rocks for the first time with the four-night Phish run, I’m instantly drawn to the Monolith Festival given the location and the lineup this year. There’s some really solid stuff on the bill, but there’s enough overlap in the coming months that I think I’ll get to see most of these artists in another setting, albeit nothing like the iconic Red Rocks Ampitheatre. I had an incredible time at the venue itself, so throw in some of the best indie bands of the moment and you’ve got yourself a solid two-day festival. READ MORE
