The lineup for one of the nation’s biggest electronic music festival, Miami’s annual Ultra Music Festival, was just announced late last week right before Christmas. This is an absolutely stacked affair and I don’t recommend anyone skip on this if they like the untz. The fest returns to Miami’s downtown Bayfront Park area and will be happening from March 23-25, 2012 as part of Music Week in Miami. Tickets are already on sale.
And you should really think about buying tickets for this one if you’re in the area and/or spending money on South by Southwest just isn’t your thing. The Ultra highlights are plentiful in our eyes with the lineup on day one featuring Skrillex, Pretty Lights, and Kraftwerk, along with Justice, M83, and Fatboy Slim on day two, and then finally SBTRKT, Flying Lotus, and Bassnectar on day three. Wow, right?!
Read on for the full lineup and stay tuned for their phase two of the artist announcements; I’m not sure tickets will last too long for this one, though… READ MORE

The first round of artists for this year’s CMJ Music Marathon in NYC were just announced. The music and film festival is set for October 18-22 all around NYC.
I still haven’t made it out this festival but tons of indie rockers cut their teeth in NYC around this time of year and around the CMJ events. Plus it’s a solid way for tons of folks in the industry to get together and finally meet each other face to face as opposed to electronic correspondence only. Maybe I’ll make it out to NYC this year after all… >>>

This lineup is just so epic on paper; if I was on the East Coast and couldn’t get Phish tickets this would have to be something I made time for. READ MORE

Like New Year’s Eve, Halloween is another holiday that a lot of bands choose to celebrate in style. There’s just something about mixing the live concert experience with all the fun and choas of Halloween that really brings out the freaks. While most bands typically play into the Halloween vibe in some way, touring bands often approach Halloween as an opportunity to really create a unique live music event. Just as we did with our New Year’s Eve concert round-up, we’ve compiled a list of Halloween concerts that will be going on this weekend (see below for the long list).
We have also noticed a few bands that are taking a similar approach to Halloween as Phish by doing some sort of “musical costume” and either covering another band’s music or playing a full show of thematic covers. Here are a few of the more interesting “musical costumes” we’ve seen announced this year:
