brooklynvegan was the first to report that the rumored festival set for Atlantic City is indeed true. The band just announced the Orion Music and More Festival in Atlantic City on June 23rd-24th, which will feature unique sets from the band and a full runthrough of The Black Album. This is the first of the announcements coming out of these four festival confirmations that were reported recently.

The lineup (so far):

, , , , Cage The Elephant, , , , , , , , , , , .

Many more TBA. Tickets are discounted if you’re a member of the band’s fan club and they’ll go on sale there first; head over to the festival website for more info as it becomes available or follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Post image for 2009 Halloween Concert Round-Up

Like New Year’s Eve, is another holiday that a lot of bands choose to celebrate in style. There’s just something about mixing the live concert experience with all the fun and choas of that really brings out the freaks. While most bands typically play into the vibe in some way, touring bands often approach as an opportunity to really create a unique live music event. Just as we did with our New Year’s Eve concert round-up, we’ve compiled a list of Halloween concerts that will be going on this weekend (see below for the long list).

We have also noticed a few bands that are taking a similar approach to Halloween as by doing some sort of “musical costume” and either covering another band’s music or playing a full show of thematic covers. Here are a few of the more interesting “musical costumes” we’ve seen announced this year:

Finally, I thought I’d round up a selection of -related links separately considering that there’s going to be a huge focus on this band in the coming months. We’ll probably have tons more to share, especially when we start heading out on the road ourselves.

Many bands seem to be announcing fall tours right now. Rock and Roll Daily ran with the news that Metallica had announced their Fall 2008-Winter 2009 tour dates supporting their upcoming release of Death Magnetic. I wonder if their Bonnaroo appearance this year will have any affect on their tour audience, but I also highly doubt that it did anything but bring a new element to Bonnaroo that may not have otherwise been there already. has always been their own kinda monster — didn’t they make a movie about that already? — so expect this tour to be a monster of its own.
