Last Thursday night I caught an amazing ’s “Night Falls” tour show with opener and The County.

Chromeo made quite the entrance on Thursday night. The loud stadium-esque guitar, the flashing lights and the snyth-infused chant of “CHRO-ME-O, OHHH OOHHH,” all indicated that this show was going to be epic. [CUIndependent.com]

I almost had trouble getting my camera into the show, but once I did and witnessed what I tried to show in the gallery below, I couldn’t wait to share these photos with all of you… VIEW PHOTOS

Post image for Moogfest 2011: Daily Schedule Announced

You been paying attention Moogfest this year? We’re digging on their lineup and the daily schedule has been announced already. In addition to the top-tier lineup covered in untz and whomp, this year will feature the festival along with an expansion to a number of new venues in the Asheville proper. In addition to shows at the Asheville Civic Center Arena, Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, and the Orange Peel, they’ve also added the newly renovated Asheville Music Hall (formerly Stella Blue) and the Diana Wortham Theatre, and plan to announce another outdoor venue soon.

The second and final day of Outside Lands was a pretty successful music-filled day for me and my crew. I saw some seriously great music, ate some great food, enjoyed some $8 Newcastles, and generally left completely primed for the Worship My Organ face-melt that was planned for the late-night show at the Boom Boom Room. Mission accomplished.

The festival was solid, though. We came away with tons of memories and a bit more energy compared to the two previous years when the festival was spread out amongst three different days. The streamlined fest felt efficient and it felt like it was logistically successful, so for that we had hardly a complaint in terms of food, beer and facilities. Plus the music was pretty sick. Last night during the second set of Umphrey’s McGee on Couch Tour, we got an announcement from keyboardist Joel Cummins regarding a festival that the band was going to be a part of in Chicago on Labor Day weekend. The festival is called the North Coast Music Festival and it’s going to be some serious heat for live music that weekend in the city. To get a lineup like this in Chicago starts to provides options to people besides the behemoth that is Lollapalooza, and the smaller and more eclectic and banging mix for your buck seriously puts this in good contention to be a standout festival of the year. Let’s hope for some bomb collaborations.

Check out their Twitter page here and follow along for the official lineup announcement. We have it on good authority that this is the lineup we’ll be seeing when it gets dropped.
