The first day of started early at 12:30 with an indoor set by Dyno Jamz.  An up-and-coming funky hip-hop act from here in Seattle, they recently won the EMP Sound Off Competition, an under 21 battle of the bands now approaching its 8th year.  Supported by the grandeur of the EMP Sky Church’s enormous lighting rig, the band ripped through a solid hour long set filled with some new material and a few spoken word moments as well. The lineup for the Pitchfork Music Festival got a few additions the other day, with , Fucked Up, M83, Black Lips, and a few others added to the already amazing festival roster. I really hope I’ll be able to attend this festival, with the Friday night “Write the Night” series seriously exciting the hell out of me. For those that haven’t heard about this already, check it:

A reminder: On Friday, July 17, we’ll launch the “Write the Night: Set Lists by Request” series, in which four bands will all play fan-selected set lists. Here’s how it works: You, the audience, vote on which songs all four bands– , the Jesus Lizard, , and – will play. When you buy your ticket, you’ll get a confirmation email. That confirmation email will include a link to a page where you can vote on which songs from each band you want to hear. The bands will tailor their set lists accordingly. (Also worth mentioning: This will be the Jesus Lizard’s first American show in a decade.) Voting ends June 12.
