The second annual Harvest of Hope Foundation Music and Arts Festival has announced the schedule for their massive 2010 lineup.

HOH 2010 takes place March 12-14th at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds in St. Augustine, Florida. The Harvest of Hope Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides financial, educational, and service oriented aid to migrant farm workers all over the country.

The second incarnation of Rothbury Festival is back on the Fourth of July weekend with a lineup that will satisfy any jamband fan living in these great independent states, and I’m just now getting around to posting the lineup for everyone to see (not that you haven’t already seen this elsewhere). I’m already booked for High Sierra or I would be hitting this festival myself, but lucky for us the fine folks behind Festival are sponsoring the site for the month leading up to the festival. And we get to celebrate that by giving away a pair of tickets for all 4-days of the festival. READ MORE

Man Man just announced some tour dates, calling this the “You Are My Manifest Destiny” tour. I just picked up their latest album, Rabbit Habits, which was released a while back but I never got to it yet. Now that I’ve had some time to pick up some new music I’ve been spending time on some of the bands I’ve seen this year that I really enjoyed. I caught them back in Chicago right before I moved out here. The show was just so good front-to-back with Yeasayer as the opener and a rowdy crowd jazzed up all the way until the end of the show. Good times.

As I think I’ve discussed before, I often see gig poster artists split into two categories: Illustrators and Designers. This is, of course, an over-simplification; many illustrators have a great sense of design, and lots of designers can draw. However, when looking through the pages and pages of new arrivals on Gigposters every week, I frequently see posters landing in one camp or the other.

Some people will only buy hand-drawn, intricately illustrated posters, others simply like clean lines, and a strong graphic design. I’m an equal opportunity poster geek, but this weeks jumped out at me for its asymmetrical composition and awesome use of pictographs.
