Everyone’s had a full week to digest the Phish New Year’s Eve run, arguably a “standard” Phish affair with no major surprises but an undeniably fun four-nights in NYC for a ton of lucky music fans. That’s a great way to kick off a new year no matter what, and we’re psyched to be kicking off our new year here at LMB with a proper Phish Friday post. Let’s round up some videos and hang out this afternoon…
I chose the first 10 that come to my mind from the run after digesting the entire run; some of this I watched real-time but I generally wasn’t fully engaged on the entire Couch Tour, so take my opinion and notes as a quick mental dump / recap about the four nights. Many others have tackled this run in hella detail. And I should note that we’re avoiding the “full” review of these shows given the fact that my crew didn’t want to touch it with a 10-foot pole. It was hard to digest in a few ways, but all of them agreed it was fun and well worth a review to focus on the higlights only. Let’s dig in… READ MORE

So, despite every awesome thing happening in San Francisco and Phish Couch Tour calling my name, I ended up disconnected a bit on New Year’s Eve night and ended up spending my time with friends in the redwoods in Northern California. Life is good.
In case you haven’t found your way over to Phish.net yet, here’s how the New Year’s Eve show went down for my friends in attendance for Phish NYE: READ MORE
Phish is about to begin night two down at MSG but we’ve got our shots from night one courtesy of our good buddy Nick Irving. You’ve seen his work here plenty of times and he’s given us a huge set from last night; I love how this gives that good mix of what you’d hope to see at a show…. the band up front, the light show, and lit-up arena rock moments. Makes me feel like I was there…
Thanks to Nick Irving for bringing his gear down to MSG to shoot the Phish show for us last night. Stay tuned to the site and our friends at @CoventryMusic, @PeteLikesPhish and @YEMblog for updates from the show. READ MORE

Phish played their first of four nights at Madison Square Garden last night as part of their New Year’s Eve run, and I was there rocking some of set one on Couch Tour while my crew of buddies was raging hard at the arena.
Here’s the setlist from Phish.net:
Set I: Free, Glide > Possum, Cities, The Ballad of Curtis Loew, Stash, Contact > Sample in a Jar, Kill Devil Falls > Bathtub Gin
Set II: Birds of a Feather, Carini -> Tweezer[1] > My Friend, My Friend[2] -> Rock and Roll[3] -> NICU, Bouncing Around the Room, Harry Hood > Bug
Encore: Tube > Rocky Top > Tweezer Reprise
[1] Streets of Cairo tease.
[2] No “Myfe” ending.
[3] Birds of a Feather jam.
We’ll have more coverage, videos, and photos in the next few days and as always stay up on the feed at @YEMblog for the latest media hitting the web after these shows. I’m always psyched at how fast the media gets uploaded after every show.
For any Bay Area fans, don’t miss out on the viewing party at the Independent tonight. Brick & Mortar is showing it, too.
Phish doesn’t often let “news” slip without its best attempt to keep it under wraps, but plenty of folks have caught on to the LivePhish.com pre-order page for the New Year’s Eve shows at Madison Square Garden and the fact that fans can pre-oder a HD video stream version of the shows. Couch Tour…kangfirmed!
I’m sure the official announcement will hit the newsletter later today, but for now start planning your Couch Tour parties if you can’t make it to MSG for the festivities!

Welcome Dana Montanari to the LMB NYC team! For her first show review on the site, she’s tackling a whopper of a show in the Foo Fighters MSG gig this past Sunday night. And thankfully for us fans at home, our Phish-y YouTube friend mkdevo was there to record the action, too. Get some popcorn, crank this baby up and read on for Dana’s thoughts from the show…
