The lineup for Coachella 2012 has been posted! This year’s festival will be bringing headliners The Black Keys, Radiohead, and Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg to the two-weekend affair down in Indio, CA. Other LMB favorites on the lineup are Refused, M83, Flying Lotus, SBTRKT, Bon Iver, Girl Talk, DJ Shadow, and the newly-announced reunion by At The Drive-In.
The lineup for one of the nation’s biggest electronic music festival, Miami’s annual Ultra Music Festival, was just announced late last week right before Christmas. This is an absolutely stacked affair and I don’t recommend anyone skip on this if they like the untz. The fest returns to Miami’s downtown Bayfront Park area and will be happening from March 23-25, 2012 as part of Music Week in Miami. Tickets are already on sale.
And you should really think about buying tickets for this one if you’re in the area and/or spending money on South by Southwest just isn’t your thing. The Ultra highlights are plentiful in our eyes with the lineup on day one featuring Skrillex, Pretty Lights, and Kraftwerk, along with Justice, M83, and Fatboy Slim on day two, and then finally SBTRKT, Flying Lotus, and Bassnectar on day three. Wow, right?!
Read on for the full lineup and stay tuned for their phase two of the artist announcements; I’m not sure tickets will last too long for this one, though… READ MORE
Here’s another tour announcement from a band whose latest album is definitely on my list of favorites for 2011: M83 (album: Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming). After selling out a bunch of US dates in 2011, M83 announced they’ll be returning to North American in 2012. Unfortunately, I was unable to catch them at their recent NYC shows, but I keep hearing great things about their live show and I can really see these songs translating well to the concert setting. This is a week to give thanks. Thanks to family, friends, good health, good food, and…..multi-night runs in NYC! Yep, for some reason, this week in NYC shows seems to be the week of two- and three-night stands including Allen Toussaint, the Cure, moe., M83 and Robert Randolph & the Family Band, just to name a few.
Here’s the breakdown of the week’s concert highlights with some video accompaniment… READ MORE
Sorry for the absence of this here column last week; I got hit with an acute case of tonsillitis which definitely killed my Monday pretty badly. Felt like I was swallowing razorblades….but the good news is that it got me to the doctor to get some killer horse-pills to clear my junk up, so I ended up catching a few good live shows last week when all was said and done. More on that to come, but for now let’s dive into the cool music coming through San Francisco this week that you all should be paying attention to. READ MORE
You been paying attention Moogfest this year? We’re digging on their lineup and the daily schedule has been announced already. In addition to the top-tier lineup covered in untz and whomp, this year will feature the festival along with an expansion to a number of new venues in the Asheville proper. In addition to shows at the Asheville Civic Center Arena, Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, and the Orange Peel, they’ve also added the newly renovated Asheville Music Hall (formerly Stella Blue) and the Diana Wortham Theatre, and plan to announce another outdoor venue soon.
Asheville, North Carolina’s festival ode to all things electronic music and Moog, Moogfest, just added some power to its already-solid lineup for 2011. Today, they threw a few new names into the mix, including TV on the Radio, Special Disco Version (featuring James Murphy and Pat Mahoney of DFA/LCD Soundsystem), St. Vincent, and Flying Lotus, among a bunch of others.
