I caught this late yesterday but just not getting around to posting the news update from the 23rd Annual Warren Haynes Christmas Jam. The lineup hit the wires yesterday with Phil & Friends, Gov’t Mule, Los Lobos and Bela Fleck all sitting at the top with plenty more yet to be announced. It’s a doozy for fans of the Haynes and Friends style uber jam that lasts hours and hours into the Asheville night. >>>
Like New Year’s Eve, Halloween is another holiday that a lot of bands choose to celebrate in style. There’s just something about mixing the live concert experience with all the fun and choas of Halloween that really brings out the freaks. While most bands typically play into the Halloween vibe in some way, touring bands often approach Halloween as an opportunity to really create a unique live music event. I almost forgot that this weekend was the annual Green Apple Music Festival across ten cities to celebrate Earth Day and raise money for environmental action. The lineup in D.C. looks the best to me, with The Flaming Lips, moe. and Los Lobos all set to appear tomorrow on The National Mall.
The Flaming Lips, moe., Los Lobos and others will perform during Earth Day On The National Mall by Earth Day Network in partnership with Green Apple Festival Day in Washington DC on Sunday, April 19, 2009. The free event on the National Mall will be emceed by actor Chevy Chase and will also feature performances by DJ Spooky, the Howard University Drummers and the Joy of Motion Dance Center’s teen hip hop company, Urban Impact. Additionally, Kathleen Rogers, President of Earth Day Network, actor Matthew Modine, Philippe Pierre Jacques-Yves Arnault Cousteau Jr., Rep. Edward Markey, U.S. House of Representatives among others will speak throughout the day. The theme of the day is the Green Generation – a campaign including renewable energy, green jobs and a new green economy. More on Earth Day is available at www.earthday.net
I can imagine some solid photos coming out of this event and can’t wait to see them. If you end up going or finding some coverage online, send it my way.
