It couldn’t have been a more beautiful day on Manhattan. The sites of the holiday, the bustle of the shoppers, the smell of the Halal Food trucks on every corner and The Holiday Shops at Bryant Park all while wearing short sleeves–”forget about it!” Temperature had to be somewhere between 60 and 70 degrees and the sun was out at the end of “Movember“, aka November or for me–aka “moe.vember”. Last night, I was super lucky to witness ’s last show (ever) at MSG. Even with all the hype surrounding this show, it absolutely exceeded expectations and blew me away. From the bombastic drum-drop of “Dance Yourself Clean” to kick off the show, the place was a total dance party, and it was clear the band was on a mission to blow the roof off of MSG. The show clocked in at over three and a half hours and saw the band hit all the high notes, including stand-out tracks from their last three albums as well as some older rarities and covers of Alan Vega’s “Bye Bye Bayou” and Harry Nillson’s “Jump Into the Fire”. They shared the stage with other artists from the DFA family (The Juan Maclean, Shit Robot), and featured some fun sit-ins, including Reggie Watts and Arcade Fire. Overall, it was a career-spanning blowout that covered all the key territory and I think it’s safe to say that it’s now in my top ten concerts of all time.

I don’t quite have it in me today for a full play-by-play review, but thanks to ArcadeFireTube (and Pitchfork.tv’s webcast), you can now watch the show in its entirety. Check it out to get a taste of the sheer energy that James Murphy and crew brought to the Garden last night:

LCD Soundsystem Final Show at MSG

OMFG! While our illustrious editor-in-chief is busy getting his untz on down in LA tonight, I’ll be at MSG for ’s final concert!

Despite all the utter nonsense involved with their ticketing fiasco and through some utter stroke of beginner’s luck, my lovely wife scored two tickets to LCD Soundsystem tonight at MSG and it’s just now hitting me how stoked I am for this show. Although I’ve been an LCD fan for years, their last album, This Is Happening, really hit my ears in the sweet spot. It was basically at the top of my list of favorite albums from 2010, and despite totally overplaying it since last spring, I still haven’t gotten tired of listening to it.

By the way, if you’re ticket-less–which I usually am for these big shows–or you don’t live in NYC, keep in mind that you’re not totally shit-out-of-luck. Pitchfork will be webcasting the show in its entirety. Hell, given my shitty 300-level upper deck seats, you might even get better sound and visuals than me from the comfort of your own couch.

Either way, this one should definitely be a show for the books. Let’s just hope that James Murphy and the gang haven’t totally tired themselves out over at this week! I don’t expect to have great cell service, but I’ll try to do my best to send some live updates from the show over at the LMB twitter feed as well as my own.

began their farewell run last night in New York with a triumphant first show at , featuring a male choir (that was tweeted in advance), Reggie Watts, The Juan MacLean, the entire 45:33 album, not to mention two encores to close out the night. This was only the first show, too…

Brooklynvegan already has pics up. I wonder if anyone taped this.

The lineup for Treasure Island Music Festival was officially released today following last week’s leak, and it’s exactly what we expected to see.

The gorgeous, panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay will serve as the backdrop for and Belle & Sebastian when they headline The 2010 Music Festival presented by Noise Pop and Another Planet Entertainment. The fourth annual festival, which takes place on over two days — October 16th and 17th — will carry on the tradition of featuring some of the music world’s most exciting artists.

This year’s stellar line-up, in addition to LCD Soundsystem and Belle & Sebastian (making their first Bay Area appearance in four years!), is a who’s who of the dance/electronic and indie rock worlds, including , , She & Him, Deadmau5, Kruder & Dorfmeister (live) (with one of their first U.S. performances since 2001), Miike Snow, !!!, Superchunk, Surfer Blood, , Little Dragon, Four Tet, Rogue Wave, Ra Ra Riot, Monotonix, Phantogram, The Sea & Cake, Phosphorescent, , Jamaica, Wallpaper, Papercuts, Maus Haus and The Mumlers.

As I mentioned before, I’m pretty sure that me and my crew will be in for the three-night Phish run that’s been on the rumor mill for a bit. I’d love to do both because this lineup looks pretty rad, and bands like The Sea & Cake don’t often make their way out to the West Coast.

Our friends at Consequence of Sound must have gotten the lineup to the upcoming Treasure Island Music Festival a few days early, and we’re blown away to see a seriously solid lineup for this year’s edition of the annual indie rock and electronic music festival here in the Bay Area. I love that LCD Soundsystem [...]
