Langerado

The promoters for this year’s Music Festival announced today that the event has been cancelled. Anyone that purchased tickets can get in touch with the festival customer support line for their money back; get in touch at 888-512-SHOW or email support@fgtcustomerservice.com for a full refund. Bummer.

It’s a shame to see that the partnership with C3 wasn’t enough to give this festival it’s much-needed return to glory; there were some good years when it was being operated before it’s 2009 cancellation and now I’m sure its future is up in the air.

As we mentioned previously, the Music Festival is making its return in 2011, after a two-year hiatus. They’ve just announced their initial 2011 lineup, with Death Cab For Cutie, , , , and on top of the bill, and a slew of buzzy indie bands and electronic acts rounding out the weekend festivities. The event is slated for October 8 and 9 and will be back at Markham Park in Sunrise, Florida, just outside of Ft. Lauderdale. Check it…

It’s nice to see this one make a comeback in 2011: Langerado Music Festival.

I like that they’re back to the original location at Markham Park (outside of Ft. Lauderdale). Here’s hoping the 2011 hurricane season is over by October.

The promoter of Langerado Music Festival told a local paper that the festival was likely not returning in 2010.

Bummer.

phish big cypress nye rumor

Given that this rumor was published on Twitter, it’s fair for me to open this blog post with something rather apropos given the medium and message.

A little birdie just told us that Phish is going to be returning to in Florida to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their millennium concert celebration. If this rumor gets confirmed, we’ll definitely be planning for a trip to Florida right around that time, which would also allow me (theoretically) to finally catch my first year of Jam Cruise.

I’d see the odds of this happening as rather good, especially given that the local economy already lost their beloved festival. What do you think? True? Not true?

Update: new rumors are calling for NYE in Miami, not Big Cypress.

Whenever I think of Langerado I think of the start of the music festival season, and next year’s festival and unofficial start to the ’09 season will be held March 6-8 the week before South by Southwest which means there’s a slight chance I could try to hit both of these festivals. I mean, I should try to be realistic and understand that I’m going to putting a lot of energy into this next year (more on that soon, hopefully!). But still, seems to be upping their game by moving back to a fan-friendly locale in Miami and promising a ton of fresh faces as part of the lineup.

The 2009 edition of Florida’s annual Langerado Music Festival will be held at Bicentennial Park in Miami, marking the event’s fifth venue change since launching seven years ago, according to festival co-producer Ethan Schwartz.

Next year’s Langerado Festival, to be held March 6-8, will feature approximately 60 artists on four stages. A full lineup will be announced in early November. [Billboard]
