Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk

The annual announced their initial set of artists today with the old-school heavy hitters of and taking lead on the lineup this year. Both bands will be performing two nights so the sit-in potential on this festival is absolutely insane. That’s obviously what the promoters go for when they throw parties at this spot; my friends said Bear Creek was just a constant stream of sit-ins and sets with more guests than you could keep up with notating.

The fest returns to Suwannee Music Park in Like Oak, FL the weekend of April 19-21, and it’s a doozy if you’re a jamband fan whatsoever. Tickets go on sale this Friday. Read on for the lineup… >>>

Happy holidays, dudes and dudettes! Hope you got everything you wished for and downed copious amounts of egg nog. Now, on to more important stuff than family gatherings and gift exchanges….live music! Naturally, there are ton of great shows going on this week in NYC as we lead up to New Year’s Eve, including some multi-night holiday runs, some late-night throwdowns, and plenty of NYE parties that don’t involve watching a ball drop in 10-degree weather. The lineup for 2011 was just announced, nearly a full day early here on the West Coast and the same day that Electric Forest announced their lineup. Some fans may consider a tough choice between the two festivals, but not me and about 50 other friends out here in California. is an obvious choice as it is, but with headlining the 21st annual festival and , , Warren Haynes, , and more joining them for the weekend, it seems even that much more obvious where I’ll be headed.

Here’s the initial list of artists scheduled to attend:

My Morning Jacket
Ween
Neko Case

Yonder Mountain String Band

Dr. Dog

Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk

Bill Frisell’s Beautiful Dreamers
(featuring Eyvind Kang & Rudy Royston)
The Travelin’ McCourys

Audio Angel
and many more TBA…

The lineup was announced via the festival’s YouTube channel, just like last year…

Festival announcement season is in full swing around the Internets, and you can add another Florida festival to the list. Even though the event isn’t happening until November, the Bear Creek Music and Art Festival has announced its 2010 lineup. The festival takes place November 12-14 at Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida, the same spot as the Wanee Music Festival.

In fact, if you think of the Wanee Music festival as Florida’s big “Southern Rock” music fest (w/ the , WSP, etc…), then you might consider Bear Creek to be Wanee’s funky counterpart, with the likes of Ivan Neville, , , and George Porter in the top slots. Either way, it’s good to see a few solid Florida fests sticking it out through a tough economy (RIP Langerado).
