Hey everyone, sorry for the radio silence around here. Our whole crew has been locked up in following an especially un-heady citation that we were all issued on the Boardwalk on night. Everything was going so well before Moses came through and parted the sea of wooks…

Then shit got real. #awwHELLno

Our buddy @Phortin was found guilty first as he was cited for “Orderly Conduct,” something that has absolutely zero place at a show and something we will continually shame him with on tours to come. Thankfully, he got a Seven Below discount which knocked the fine down to $4.20, assuming of course that it’s paid within the 46 Days allotted. All of this was straight from the mouth of Gamehendge Police, the security force that was patrolling the Boardwalk and issuing multiple citations to anyone going overboard and talking about or possessing an un-opened container on their person. I’m actually pretty lucky I didn’t get busted for Improper Use of Air Guitar / Air Drumming, something that I have a hard time keeping under control when the band is on stage.

We’ll have plenty more to share once we get our memory cards back from lock-up. Be on the lookout for this guy at the Holiday run…

By now you’ve probably already seen the setlist from last night’s Phish show in , a triumphant run to finish their fall tour with an homage and nod to a band that’s always been a big influence on the band: Little Feat. Right at 6pm when the doors opened, our crew debated whether or not we wanted to “know” what album the band would cover before we actually made it inside and got our own copy of the Phishbill. Reason succumbed to madness and we used our coveted 3.0 technology (i.e. Twitter) and got notification that the band would be covering Waiting for Columbus, a live album by Little Feat. What a curveball.

So our crew suited up…

…and made our way into the show for an awesome night of music. I’ll be writing up more thoughts once I have another chance to digest what I saw and listened to, but I’ll just say that you were either there or you weren’t. These concerts were not meant to be experienced through an iPod; this was easily some of the three best nights of music I’ve ever witnessed and I am forever humbled by how much this entire thing means to me and how it constantly drives me insane with happiness. Read on for the setlist that you may have missed… READ MORE

I think I’m going to be taking the next month to get back into groove now that I have a fun little tournament to plan for while I’m in to see the shows. I’m not going to pretend I know what I’m doing, but when I saw the news on JamBase this morning about the Phamily Poker Classic, I got hella psyched. Plus it’s at my hotel, so I see no reason why this wouldn’t be top of my list of things to do while I’m not dancing myself silly at the three-night epic-fest.

has announced The Phamily Poker Classic, a no-limit Texas Hold ‘Em tournament in Atlantic City to take place in the Tropicana’s poker room on the afternoons of October 30 (tournament) and 31 (final table) the same weekend Phish performs at Boardwalk Hall in AC.

Hidden Track makes mention of some of the heavy hitters we can expect to go up against, and I’ll be honored if I can stay in longer than anyone else and just not be the first person to bust out.

The Disco Biscuits recently announced a five-night run on the East Coast for , surrounding the already announced Hulaween show at Hampton Coliseum with String Cheese Incident and their appearance alongside other UNTZ proprietors at Moogfest. The band is about to head back out on the road this week with and will be playing select dates joined by Papadosio, Alex B, , and the Glitch Mob. Oh and that huge lineup for August 28th in Atlanta with STS9, Big Boi, Big Gigantic and John Hughes: that’s one amazing one-day music festival if you ask me.

Read on for the dates.

Jambands.com alerted us to Perpetual Groove’s plans for their concert at the National in Richmond, VA: a John Hughes Variety Show. From the P-Groove website:

Once again carrying the torch for their favorite movies, will present their tribute to movie director John Hughes for Halloween 2009. We highly suggest you attend dressed as your favorite character from any of John Hughes’ movies. Except maybe Curly Sue.

That just has awesome written all over it. Of course, maybe I just have a thing for the John Hughes classics having grown up in the 80s in the near-north suburbs of Chicago (Evanston). By the way, if you’re looking for great Halloween show to attend, check out our Halloween Round-up…it’s massive.

Like New Year’s Eve, Halloween is another holiday that a lot of bands choose to celebrate in style. There’s just something about mixing the live concert experience with all the fun and choas of Halloween that really brings out the freaks. While most bands typically play into the Halloween vibe in some way, touring bands [...]
