Post image for LMB SF: This Week’s Concert Calendar (Nov. 7-13)

Sorry for the absence of this here column last week; I got hit with an acute case of tonsillitis which definitely killed my Monday pretty badly. Felt like I was swallowing razorblades….but the good news is that it got me to the doctor to get some killer horse-pills to clear my junk up, so I ended up catching a few good live shows last week when all was said and done. More on that to come, but for now let’s dive into the cool music coming through San Francisco this week that you all should be paying attention to. READ MORE

This is another one of those week’s of live music in that requires some serious skills with scheduling and logistics. There are a ton of great shows and there’s just not enough time, energy, and cash flow to take them all in. Since I’m still out of pocket, and there’s so much to choose from, I’m foregoing my normal highlight reel and just going with the entire list. Call me a slacker if you will, but given all these options, I think I’m mainly just indecisive…

Interesting shows from this week’s NYC concert calendar:

My final hit-list is still TBD, but I’m pretty certain I’ll at least be at that show at Mercury Lounge on Friday, potentially followed by a dance party at Cameo with the Juan Maclean. Any one else going to be there? If not, what’s your top show for the week?

Sidenote about the ticket links and listings:
I’m going to start testing out different concert listings for these posts to see which is the easiest for my purposes. This week, I put Songkick to the test.

I love what Ian and co. have done with the place (especially for the way they’ve helped to archive past shows). But for my purposes, I ran into a couple issues with some missing shows. For those, I filled in the gaps with a few artist and venue links, but it’s definitely a time-suck for a long list. Also, I’d really love to be able to simply post an embed or a list of links for all the shows I’m “attending” or “maybe attending” for a given time period. Hey, Songkick, build that. Kthxbai.

In the future, I’ll be putting a few other sites to the test (like Jambase.com, Superglued, SonicLiving, etc…) to mix things up a bit.

After getting canceled in 2010, it looks like the Festival is making a comeback in 2011…but with a new name: the Electric Forest Festival.

We’ve been hearing some occasional rumors about a return for Rothbury in 2011, but this new temporary site posted today is the most official notice we’ve seen, other than some off-the-cuff comments from Bill Nershi of . SCI appears to be a key player in putting this one together, so we expect them to have the headlining slots. Other than that, we’re hearing that let this date temporarily slip onto their tour listings, so it’s possible the lineup will take on a more bluegrass-oriented slant.

Either way, it’s great to see this festival making a comeback in 2011.

So, besides String Cheese Incident, who else do you want to see headlining the new Rothbury?
