Photographer Michael Marantz put together an amazing photo compilation from Phish Festival 8 and it’s been making the rounds between me and my crew. Even though you may have seen it already, I strongly encourage you to watch it again this morning. It’s a great way to start the week.

This is a photo animation I made of the Phish Festival 8 over October 30th – November 1st.

This work features music from the festival. This whole video is comprised of still photos that have been strung together.

Oh hai. I still haven’t even fully digested all that I took in at Phish Festival 8, and I’ve had a busy week with work and my band. Tomorrow, I plan on finally brain-dumping all of the goodness in my memories to this here blog and I fully intend to do a review proper justice. In the meantime, may I present to you…The Burble*.

Phish Festival 8: 3D Theatrical Release

It looks like the rumors of a 3D theatrical release for Phish’s Festival 8 are true. Check out page 2 in the Desert Sun’s coverage:

Phish is getting a wide theatrical release next year of the 3D movie they shot at Festival 8. Their advertising and publicity budget will be tiny compared to other nationally distributed films because they have such a direct relationship with their fans online.

No further details on when and where it will be released, but this is very cool. We’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about the U2 3D film, so this could be pretty huge.

Festival 8: Over Too Soon

I’m home from Festival 8 and I’m just now starting to digest and consume everything that went down from the fan’s perspective. The festival was amazing in some seriously impressive ways, and I’ll be working on a full review of everything I saw today when I start my new full-time job. But first, I figured I’d give a nod to the wondrous event that was Halloween with Exile on Main Street by posting a great full video of “Loving Cup,” the song from the album that Phish fans knew the best (myself included).

Big thanks to Whitperson for running the show on the site this weekend and thanks to all the visitors for hanging out on LMB. We’ll have plenty more to see from the festival if you’re into that sorta thing. Stay tuned.

I have a friend who I consider a big Phish fan who paid little to no attention to all the Phish Festival 8 coverage this weekend. So I was thinking, maybe he’s not the only one?

If there are any Phish fans out there who didn’t check out the Festival 8 coverage or live audio streams, then you might want to check out Mr. Miner’s No Spoliers downloads series. He’s offering downloads to complete sets from Indio this past weekend, without any tracking or setlist info, so you can hear the show as it happened. So far, he’s got the first and second days, and the third day is on its way.

Here’s the video mash-up that began Phish’s Halloween set at Festival 8:

This was put together by Eclectic Method, a group out of Brooklyn that does a unique style of audio/video mash-ups (kinda like Girl Talk with video). I’ve caught some of their work at Brookyln Bowl and I’ve been really impressed. But this one probably takes the cake, as it covers so much ground in terms of amazing albums and classic bands/musicians.
