The All Good Music Festival – now in its 14th year – has released its initial 2010 lineup, including headliners like Furthur, Widespread Panic, Umphrey’s McGee, YSMB, among many other acts of the jam-friendly variety. This year’s All Good will take place July 8 – 11, returning to their usual spot at the scenic Marvin’s Mountaintop in Masontown, WV.

The High Sierra Music Festival has announced its initial 2010 lineup, including the likes of the Avett Brothers, Ozomatli, Femi Kuti, Bela Fleck, and Dr. Dog among many others. The Northern Cali fest is now in its 20th year and will once again take place over the 4th of July Holiday weekend. The High Sierra folks decided to roll out this year’s lineup in an interesting way, releasing this video below, a spoof of Apple’s famous product presentations for the iPod and all their other gadgets:

It’s a bit hokey, but I guess they felt like they had to do something bigger to compete among the hype and din of the busy festival lineup announcement season. Personally, I think they should just to stick to what they do best: consistently putting on a great mid-size music festival in the hills of Northern Cali. No matter what you think of the video, their 2010 lineup is definitely an interesting mix with a lot variety and is just about right for High Sierra’s traditional niche.
I recently finalized plans to make a big move up to New York City later on in 2009 and I couldn’t be more excited. I have a ton of reasons to be stoked, of course, but for music blogging purposes, this means I will suddenly have a huge set of options for great live music (probably too many). Over the next few months, as I start my NYC research to figure out where to live, I also plan to explore many of the great live music options that will present themselves to me in the Big Apple.
Since we’re strongly considering Brooklyn as an option, I thought I’d start my NYC focus on the “Celebrate Brooklyn! Concert Series” at the Prospect Park Bandshell, which just announced its 2009 schedule. Although I definitely won’t be there in time to catch most of these shows, I hope to check out a few of them; that Animal Collective two-night run looks especially promising.
Overall, it’s awesome to see so many solid live music options just in this one spot when I know there are so many other festivals, concert series, and venues to explore. Although time and money will definitely help to hold me back, let’s just say it’s going to be hard to behave in NYC. I can’t wait…
