Umphrey's McGee @ Catskill Chill 2011

Because they love their fans so much (heh), Umphrey’s McGee put up their Super Bowl Village set as a free download on their blog. I’m downloading this right away; I haven’t dove into any live UM in a while.

It looks like will be returning to the stage with a new album and set sometime this year. They’ve already been added to the Bestival Music Festival in the UK.

Rolling Stone has the exclusive on the return to from a band I’ve always loved a ton: . They recently started tweeting that they were putting together new music and RS has the new track called, “Are You Ready?” In the interview they mention that they will indeed return to do some shows at some point, but not until they finish a full album worth of material and rehearse some of their old stuff. Post image for PHOTOS / REVIEW: Dr. Dog & The Felice Brothers @ Tipitina’s 11/10/11
Tip’s was packed to the brim with indie music devotees on Thursday night – and deservedly so as Professor Longhair’s house was offered a stacked evening featuring the trifecta of Quiet Life, The Felice Brothers, and Dr. Dog. I’m happy to report that one of the most anticipated nights in recent Tipitina’s history lived up to the hype, and never more so than when the Philly quintet of Teach, Taxi, Text, Tables and Thanks took the stage just before midnight.

Post image for Thursday Night Double Feature: Dr. Dog and Felice Brothers @ Tipitina’s 11/10/11
The stars have aligned, the music gods smile upon us and a wealth of great Americana, folk, and classic-inspired groove rock is headed our way this Thursday when one of the greatest bands on Earth (Dr. Dog) and a fiery band of folksters (Felice Brothers) team up for a twin killing at Tipitina’s alongside Quiet Life. As has been the case with so many great indie-leaning shows this fall, Tulane’s WTUL station is behind the curtain on this one and are teaming up with the venue to co-promote this monster show that so many have been looking forward to all fall.

Although Hurricane Irene ended up being rather wimpy — considering all of the preparations and dire warnings — it certainly screwed up a lot of NYC concerts and festivals this past weekend. Brooklyn Bowl had to postpone BP’s Saturday show, so I was denied what would have certainly been a raging, late-night throwdown (including a [...]

Dr. Dog Announce Fall Tour Dates

Tour Dates
Thumbnail image for Dr. Dog Announce Fall Tour Dates

Dr. Dog just announced a new set of tour dates the other day. Their music seemed to be featured prominently as “house music” on the set switchovers this past weekend at Outside Lands and me and my crew noticed it more than a few times… The band is currently in a Philadelphia studio recording a [...]
