The lineup for this year’s was released earlier this week and they had promised us one more headliner that will join , and for the top honors at the beach side party. Consequence of Sound just dropped the news that confirmed themselves as the third (fourth?) major anchor at this year’s festival, so there you have it.

We’re also hearing that they’re a major headliner at this year’s Music Festival along with and Radiohead. Yeah.

As we reported last weekend, the festival at ’s Governors Island got cut short because of Hurricane Irene. But in one hell of a logistical move, the festival organizers have rescheduled the event for Sept 16-18 at a new spot on NYC’s Randall’s Island. will headline all three nights, and will perform on Friday and Saturday, but the rest of the rescheduled lineup has not yet been finalized and announced. Also, it looks like they’ll be honoring all tickets for the original three-day event even if you attended last Friday (the one night of the festival that actually took place as scheduled).

8/26 update: Most shows on Saturday and Sunday canceled due to Hurricane Irene

This week in live music, we’ve got a few solid clubs shows going on, plus two very different NY-area festivals. As I mentioned last week, ’s hitting Webster Hall for a few nights and comes highly recommended for a bunch of reasons already stated and posted. I’m also keen on two Saturday shows…the first is a friend’s band, called The New Facility. They may be new, but they’ve definitely honed in on a cool sound (a little synthy, a little dark, and lots of interesting open space and sounds; just check it out). The second Sat’night show on my radar is Brothers Past, who will bring their dark, drum’n'bass improv and indie/electroc songwriting chops to Brooklyn Bowl Saturday for the late slot. If their recent show from the 8×10 in B’more is any indication of what’s in store for Saturday, then it should be a pretty epic dance party (I recommend listening all the way through track 3 — “Big Blus Apples” — for exhibit A).

Outsie of the smaller rock clubs, the NY metro area is playing host to two festivals this weekend. For the more mainstream jam crowd, the Dave Matthews Band Caravan festival kicks off at Governors island, and features DMB along with a fairly deep lineup of interesting support acts, including: The Roots, Citizen Cope, , moe., Robert Randolph, Béla Fleck, Soulive Vieux Farka Toure, The Wood Brothers, Trombone Shorty, and a bunch of others.

For something a bit less jammy, there’s the Afro Punk festival at Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn (between Ft. Greene and Vinegar Hill) — a free festival featuring headliners like Cee Lo Green, Santigold, Janelle Monae, Fishbone, and Toro y Moi, etc…

As always, summer in NYC continues to the deliver the goods and provide constant concert temptation.

Interesting shows from this week’s NYC concert calendar:

First Pearl Jam, and now Dave Matthews Band. Who’s next to announce, ? Perhaps…

played the NFL Season Opener last night in New Orleans and Pauly totally nailed his 10:1 that we’d see a Talking Heads cover during the performance. Love it.

The man behind the band recently announced that the band would be taking 2011 off the road, which is a pretty drastic move in the man’s career all things considered. Before that, the band is finishing up their current jaunt through the US and then plans on playing some fall shows on the East Coast. Read on for the dates…
