Chicago

In what some are calling it the best time in a long time for self-made DJs and producers, it’s just too easy now to stand behind a laptop and let the music bring energy to a sold out crowd. Alex Botwin, AKA Paper Diamond proved that playing electronic music can and should be much more than pressing buttons on a laptop in his recent trip through Chicago. READ MORE

Earlier today I happened upon a half finished web page for something called Spring Awakening Music Festival. This supposed festival is slated to hit June 16th and 17th in . The half finished web page wasn’t up for long, so I wasn’t able to lurk the page for long, but on the page was , , , text that read “ to headline”… and a scrolling banner that showed none other than the duo known as . Some of us can dream, right?

The website claimed tickets would be $90 for the two day pass, and $180 for a VIP two day pass. Check out the screenshots I got: READ MORE

Get planning on your folks!

The rumors already started hitting my texts last night with thoughts that may be at MSG for a two-night NYE run with potentially a few other dates ahead of that, but not everyone’s going to be in NYC or wanting to travel around those dates. Or maybe they’ll have some pre-NYE competition (duh) with the likes of some other pioneers of a side of this scene known as Disco Biscuits, who were smart and got their NYE show announced early. >>>

Post image for REVIEW: Phish Summer Tour 2011 Leg 2 (Part Three)

Read part one (Gorge > Hollywood Bowl) and part two (Lake Tahoe > Outside Lands) first before diving into our final recap/review from summer tour.

Next week about this time Phish will be deep into their second set on the final night of three-night run at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Colorado, and that’s a good sign that it’s time to reflect on the awesome Leg II run that us lucky (!) West Coast fans were able to partake in this summer. I loved how most of 2010 the standard Phish bashing featured complaints about the selection of venues and dates the band had announced; maybe the band was paying just enough attention to feed us West Coasters a solid set of dates in 2011 as a response. >>>

Last night I finally got a chance to get through all three parts of the mini-documentary that put together from his New Year’s Eve 2009 concert in , and having been a bit more inspired by music like this lately I was totally floored at the behind the scenes footage. READ MORE

Post image for New Year’s Eve: Surprise Me Mr. Davis in SF, Pretty Lights in Chicago

In case you missed it late yesterday, a bunch of New Year’s Eve announcements hit the internets that I think you’d all be quite psyched about. First up, the gang in collectively announced a two-night run at Cafe Du Nord in featuring sets from SMMD, , and over the two nights. I’ve seen this show before and I’d love to see it again, especially on a New Year’s Eve that’s spent walking distance from my place. Pretty soon after that we got an announcement that Pretty Lights will be doing NYE in Chicago at the Congress Theater with on 12/30 and on 12/31.

Read on for the announcements from the bands. Anyone making solid plans yet? READ MORE
