While we’ve obviously been covering the hell out of the Phish Summer Tour, we’re also hella excited about this weekend’s annual Festival in Mohawk, NY. Our friend Nick Irving is going to be on-site shooting photos for the site (as best he can; we were too late to get a photo pass for the pit) and we’ll hope to have some coverage up after the fact. This lineup is eclectic as hell and the announcement is something I love to see year after year. While it’s definitely stacked with heavy hitters that you’d know and love already — , with Levon Helm Band, , etc. — I’d take a look at the following artists on the lineup and make sure they get your full attention as well. The lineup for Jam Cruise 9 was just posted with , , Robert Randolph, and many more set to sail to Mexico early next January. The ship is set to stop at Roatan, Honduras and Costa Maya, Mexico, all the while transforming a normal cruise ship into the world’s best floating music festival. I’m not sure this lineup is enough to get me there, but I know some friends that already pre-booked and I imagine we’ll see a few more artists added the next few weeks as they work to get people booking reservations. We’ll see…I’m always on the fence with this one given how committed it is, but I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it.

The jamband supergroup, Furthur, came together this past weekend here in Oakland with three sold-out shows at the Fox Theater. They just announced another five shows out on the East Coast.

Furthur, featuring: , , Jeff Chimenti, John Kadlecik, Jay Lane, and have announced five new shows. The run starts on December 8th & 9th at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC, followed by one show at the Chevrolet Theater in Wallingford CT on December 11th, and closes with two nights in scenic Asbury Park NJ at the Convention Hall on December 12th and 13th.

The Dead rolled into New Jersey’s Meadowlands on Tuesday night for the first of two nights in the swamp. Although I’ve seen Phil and Friends a bunch of times (a great band), and seen two Ratdog shows (which was two too many), this was to be my first time seeing , the 2009 edition. READ MORE
