Lollapalooza 2008 | Wilco and Rage to Fill Out Lineup?

Balloon

Looks like we've got more lineup rumors for Lollapalooza 2008.

This time Mr. DeRogatis is alluding to the possibility of Wilco and Rage Against the Machine as additional headliners for the Chicago festival. Those are 'additional' headliners tacked onto the possible behemoths of Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails that have already been rumored. Wowza!?!

If that's the case, Lolla 2008 could be some serious shit.

4/4/08 update: These and other headliners have now been pretty much confirmed.

I'd say that Wilco would be a solid pick here, but if you add Rage Against the Machine to this lineup, I'd worry about the nature of the crowd in the heart of Grant Park. Even more worrisome -- who would go onstage *opposite* Rage? Radiohead?

Actually...that would make sense. Rage fans on one end of the park, Radiohead fans on the other.

This brings up a good question for Chicago fans -- who's rumor's are more trustworthy? Kots or DeRo's? I saw both of them here in SXSW last night. I should ask them.

yes, ask them!

I think a lot of peeps would be pissed for the Rage vs. Radiohead match-up. I personally would want to see both!

last year the modest mouse/my morning jacket thing was a bit of a piss off... actually having like 5 or 6 of the main bands i wanted to see all landing in a couple hours was kind of scary...... but Radiohead/Rage would take the cake... i'd say the majority would want to see both and would be amazed at the lineup and then pissed at the schedule 1000 times more than last year

yeah, rage vs radiohead=not gunna happen

radiohead is hands down gunna be the headliner and they never have more then one artist as the final headliner

i'd love to see wilco show up though

RADIOHEAD AND WILCO: MY DREAM COME TRUE

they dont have to go head to head if you have radiohead saturday night you could have rage sunday night or vice versa theres only one headliner on sunday night

plus if you look back to some lala history they counter the sounds so if you have radiohead play saturday night at at&t stage you would probebly get a Roots or Jay Z or some hip hop name to play bud lite stage

my vote would be the Beastie Boys

They didn't counter headliners last year when they muse vs. interpol.

My guess
Friday : Rage vs Wilco
Saturday: NIN vs Hip Hop Act
Sunday: Radiohead

pumpkins should no doubt headline palooza for 2008, legendary band that just came out with a new album not too long ago. i dont see who could be a better headliner. id like to see some rage, radiohead, or possibly some chevelle as some other bands to perform at palooza.

this is all fine and dandy but how much of this has sifted into air via stupid promoters. I don't care though, i am a consumer of great shows and music so bring it on i am buyin my tix tonight, let me get a lil RJD2 and some blueprint this year, columbus represent

You guys should check out the virginmobil fest as well, looking like a pretty alright lineup to me. NiN will be THERE as well.

i would definitly take Rage over any of those other headliners, especially Wilco...Wilco were at lollapalooza last year, and i honestly think they sound like nothing special, i'm not a fan, they definitly could have found a much better headliner besides them...R.E.M. as a headliner would have been amazing!
