filed under: , , ,

Billboard.com is reporting that The Police are indeed scheduled as one of the headliners (June 16) at the 2007 Bonnaroo Music Festival.

In what is destined to be an historic run, the Police will embark on their first tour in 23 years, beginning May 28 at the GM Arena in Vancouver, Billboard.com can exclusively reveal. As part of a tour that will play arenas and stadiums internationally through the end of the year, the band will also headline the June 16 date of the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tenn.

We're expecting Fenway Park (confirmed) and Wrigley Field (unconfirmed) to be stops along this epic tour and we'll update with tour dates as soon as they're posted.

And in case you missed it, the trio played their classic "Roxanne" last night at the Grammys for the first performance since officially announcing their reunion.

"Tickets will be scaled primarily at $225, $90 and $50. "

That's insane. Are people going to pay that?

I guess so; there is a lot of buzz about this reunion but I don't get it.

I'm going to pay that!

If "Rockstar Supernova" can ask $50 and over, questioning whether The Police can garner that among a fanbase that now has disposable income seems silly...

$50 I can see, but those will be the nosebleeds. It's the idea of spending $225 to see a 2 hour (if that) concert in a giant arena that leaves me cold. I suppose that's why I don't see very many mainstream concerts.

I agree with ZZYZX I find the whole idea of playing stadiums to be rediculous. Sure they can fill them but why do that to your fans. And if last night's short performance was any indication of things to come this tour is going to be boring.

So this officially make Bonnaroo no longer a jam-band festival?

Posted by: Abe | February 12, 2007 12:14 PM

what if?

you pay 225 to see the police

and 90 other bands over 4 days too?

works for me

"So this officially make Bonnaroo no longer a jam-band festival?"

No, having Radiohead and Tom Petty as headliners alongside Phil Lesh last year put Bonnaroo on the map as more than a jam-band festival

hmm... this is not making bonaroo look appealing, if anything less appealing. any speculation on the other headliners???

Those are really weird dates. A show in Vancouver, a week and a half off, and then a show in Seattle?

Bonnaroo between Vegas and Phoenix?

"there is a lot of buzz about this reunion but I don't get it"

says the guy who is examining their schedule with a fine tooth comb.

Expect a second batch of dates soon after these shows go on sale, hence all the off dates in their schedule

"says the guy who is examining their schedule with a fine tooth comb."

Yeah, that's because I have friends who are excited but aren't getting local shows with those dates, so I was hoping that they were fake for their sake.

i have a pre-sale code to the fenway park show through best buy reward zone i am looking to trade it for a Saint Louis pre-sale

They'll probably get the 3 a.m. to sunrise set at Bonnaroo, because you know Sting can go all night long.

The Police need to release more concert dates, otherwise tickets will be unobtainable. Presale passwords have been getting sucked up in seconds after release.

I know it's a bit late, but I just went to the concert in Vegas last night and it was totally worth the $262.50. They played for well over 2 hours and it was non-stop! In fact, as we walked out of the arena EVERYONE was talking about how it was the best concert EVER!! I have to agree, best show I've ever seen. I highly recommend going and seeing them live.
