Part of me says, "man, my readers are going to hate me for even thinking about posting anything so pop-friendly..." and another part of me says, "this is more of an inside joke, especially considering the timing, and it deserves some blog fodder..."

Irregardless...

I'd actually consider Justin Timberlake's music to be a small guilty pleasure for me. Same with others I've talked to recently. Is this genre terrible? Yes, pop music in and of itself is outright filth designed at hooking youngsters like the cereal isle at your local grocery store...

Is this music terrible? Hell no, man...he's a new king of pop and he's pushing the genre forward like no one else can at this moment.

He's doing a massive 2007 tour with Pink and a 14-piece band -- with a stage setup "in the round" to allow audiences to fully encircle the stage -- so I'm sure it's going to be tour of the year in many respects. Sounds a little bit like my favorite band the Secret Machines gave him some ideas...

Full tour dates after the jump...

Got a problem with Live Music Blog covering pop music? Flame amongst yourselves...

I used to love this Blog. Really dosn't suprize me you'd start posting Justin Timberlake articles though being that I can't remember last time anything really interesting has been posted. Need to go to Aquarium Drunkard and R Bally and Burning Oak for that. What happened to mp3 posts? Guess it's better than the nothing I've contributed. Also guess I secretly find something relatively entertaining with Mr Timberlake, still don't want to see him on my Live Music Blog. Peace out 5000.

One correction to the above comment:
What happened to the good MP3's?

Posted by: Paul | October 27, 2006 12:43 PM

Ouch. No worries Justin, I still come here to read all the stuff that I'm too lazy to post.

Does October seem a little early for a presale for a March show to anyone?

"so I'm sure it's going to be tour of the year in many respects"

Huh????

Posted by: Umphil | October 27, 2006 1:12 PM

Dude...tour of the year. :)

Posted by: Justin Ward | October 27, 2006 1:18 PM

you will be beaten and raped for your illegitimate use of 'irregardless.'

Posted by: geekgrrl | October 27, 2006 1:33 PM

I love using "irregardless" -- I say it in a Pauly from Sopranos type of voice and it sounds greatttt...

Posted by: Justin Ward | October 27, 2006 1:36 PM

someone beat me to it, but irregardless isn't even a word. leave it to the geekgrrl to comment on it first. you know, somehow this post could be alot worse. your guilty pleasure could be kenny g, or still something worse. what that would be, i don't know.

I love this Blog

I'm sorry, but this blog has gone to shit. It's not this post, it's all of them. You just repost whatever jambase/jambands/pitchfork already has, and 2 days later for that matter. You charge quite a bit for advertising for a shit blog.

Post some opinions..start just posting tour dates and festival lineups. IRREGARDLESS, i think you've lost me...so sad.

All I gotta say is that this site and you the write for that matter have plummeted downhill. I have watched this site slowly but surely quite frankly get gayer and gayer. If you keep posting gay shit like justin timberlake tour dates you wont have anyone reading your gay little blog. Shit, noone really even reads it now. what am i talking about. You and this site have lost it man and I no longer will be coming to it. you've lost another fan.

Posted by: josh | October 29, 2006 10:22 AM

stick to the jam man

Posted by: najavo | October 29, 2006 6:40 PM

i would like to know if anyone who had negative things to say has their own blog... i know that LMB asked for flames, but c'mon people... true, justin probably isn't as great of a live performer as "(insert jam band god here)", but he is taking up a lot of space in huge venues this winter. that should warrant a mention. justin, i think that you'll be safe as long as you dont go and post podcasts for each of the shows!!! also, i thought that is was pretty cute how someone could point out that 'irregardless' isn't a word, but managed to spell 'a lot' as a single word... also, is gayer spelled "gayer" or "gaier"??? or maybe it's "gayyer"? love you lmb!!!

Posted by: robotic | October 29, 2006 7:12 PM

I think what your readers fail to understand is that this is a "live music blog," not a "jamband" blog anymore. So if you lose a few readers because your tastes begin to diversify, then so be it. Perhaps you'll gain a few readers in the process. I do think that one way to make this site differentiate itself would be more live music photos and reviews of shows. Don't get me wrong, I think you have a lot... but the live music blog almost warrants a new review for a new show every day. Even if it's not something that you necessarily listen to. Just my 2 cents.

I guess I could sit here and debate every point made above...but it's hardly relevant in the nature of the original post...

A couple things...

I personally like the MP3's I've posted here. All of them. I personally like the content that I've posted here. All of it.

That is all...

justin how bout your a fag and if i ever see you at a show im punching you real swiftly in the back of your head

Posted by: josh | October 30, 2006 2:42 PM

Hey Josh,

Nice to see ya back so soon:

"You and this site have lost it man and I no longer will be coming to it. you've lost another fan."

I knew you would be back, they ALWAYS come back, haha!

Justin I gotta say when I saw the headline of this blog post, I didn't know what to think, but I told myself to keep an open mind and know that you have your reasons, so I read it.

Although I don't really like Justin T. much at all, it is important to diversify our tastes. You'll always have close-minded people (funny coming from a jamband scene, huh?) bashing you for expanding your horizons. I mean look at Relix. They get shit all the time for it. The important thing is staying true to yourself. Keep up the great work man!!

Go Bears!

Posted by: Alex | October 30, 2006 3:38 PM

Keep up the diversity, Justin. It's Live Music Blog. Live as in having to do with Live Music. Correct me if I am wrong, but Justin SexxyBackLake tour dates do fall under that category.

I do like the suggestion to have one concert review a day....that is a good one.

Posted by: Ryan - Freshbread | October 30, 2006 4:23 PM

yeah, a concert review a day would be a heady mark to shoot for justin!!! maybe i'll start going to more shows and help out once in a while... oh, and i reeeeeealy hope that i am at the show where someone attempts a swift punch to the back of your head!!! notice the word 'attempts'

Posted by: robotic | October 30, 2006 4:41 PM

"justin how bout your a fag and if i ever see you at a show im punching you real swiftly in the back of your head"

Justin, you should make business cards with this sentence on them. I'd love for someone to say this to me one day...

Posted by: Ace Cowboy | October 30, 2006 4:49 PM

justin timberlake isn't diversity. that's just stupid. i understand you're just trying to defend the site but get real.

Posted by: jimmy | October 30, 2006 11:44 PM

I'd LOVE to see someone 'attempt' to punch you swiftly in the back of your head when I'm around Justin, haha! Don't worry bro, I got yer back!

That would be an awesome tagline to your business card though, haha!

I'm willing to bet Josh is (or at least was) from the moe.L

Posted by: Alex | October 31, 2006 7:03 AM

I'd love to rock a concert review a day but it's hard to keep recruits in line. Whenever I bring someone in, I never seem to get the participation that I'd think I'd get...

We'll see. Good idea for sure...

Posted by: Justin Ward | October 31, 2006 7:09 AM

Everyone here needs to smoke a joint and have a drink on the rocks. Just lay back and "sip and puff".

Ahhhhh. See that's much better right?
