Ha, “Kid Congo and the Pink Monkey Birds,” that’s great. I agree man, Austin has to be the coolest city in the US right now. They have tons of great bands coming out of there (Spoon being the one that comes to mind first), they have not only SXSW but Austin City Limits, not too mention Austin City Limits Television Tapings if you can get tickets, and the place is a staple on just about every bands tour schedule. Oh and then I heard they won a national championship recently, or something along those lines? That place is the shit, I wish I could have used my ACL tickets last september, but alas, I’ll be going down there in February for a wedding and catching a moe. show in the process, so i can’t complain.
An old high school friend of mine lives down there and it’d definitely be a decent place to stay if I found the urge…
Yeah, there’s some great bands on that list. It’s insane how they keep it all straight, all the showcases, all the bands, all the label execs–it’s gotta be nuts!
