Phish Friday | Best Dog Log Ever

As part of my ongoing effort to start sharing a hell of lot more music on Live Music Blog, we're going to be trying something new this week...

People tend to eat fish more than other foods on Fridays, especially during Lent and mostly because of the wide-adoption of Roman Catholic principles in modern society . That got me thinking...

As music fans, we should be consuming Phish on Fridays also. You guys need more Phish. They're gone and all of the guys have gone their separate ways musically (for the most part), so hopefully they're not 100% forgotten -- even if the message boardies feel like talking about their manhood more than the music...

That being said, I've worked out a pseudo partnership with Andy Gadiel, founder of JamBase and creator of Andy Gadiel's Phish Page, to start spreading some Phish MP3's back into the blogosphere. This being the first week of Phish Friday (yes, I've purposely not spelled Friday with a "ph"), we're going to dip into the Live Music Blog archives for some inspiration...

After dozing off and I imagine I was asleep for a couple hours, I awoke to a haunting melody. I had to lie in bed for a few moments to understand what I was hearing. I can hear the bassline right now--buum, ba-buum, ba-buum, ba-bumm, bumm...

It was Dog Log, first played by Phish on October 30, 1985. An evil Dog Log. Perhaps the scariest one on record. I remember waking up at the very beginning, right after the transition from Theme..., as they play straight through on the entire set.

The entire second set is a monster but the real standout was the Dog Log. Especially about the last twenty seconds...just friggin' incendiary, transcendent, and even slightly Mind-Left-Body-esque, if you will...

MP3's lovingly poached from MomaDance.com.

I'm thinking Phish Fridays are going to be the most antipated day of the week on Live Music Blog. Suggestions are obviously super welcome...

suggestions:

Please immediately post 5.22.00 - the most glorious combo of "Ghost > Jam > Rock and Roll". I was reliving it last night while at Radio City.

Solid choice... Maybe I'll post some Phish soon.
