Just for fun...

NAME YOUR FAVORITE MUSICAL GENRE RIGHT NOW

Answers cannot include the words "jamband" or "indie" -- bonus points given to the most obscure (w/ proof that it's actually a genre you enjoy). Let's hear it...

My answer: space rock

Anything euphoric to the ears, soaring, gliding, space-y...good stuff.

Sextro.

It's apparently getting huge in England.

psychedelic pop!

Yeah, I could have chosen psychedelic pop, too. Of Montreal fits nicely into that category and they're one of my favorites right now...

I would say the music I listen to the most could be broken into 3 caterogries that would be
Brooklyn Country and Bluegrass
example of bands are O'death, The Goddamn Rattle Snake, M Shanghia String Band,
Stoner Rock
examples of bands would be Pearls and brass, and Witch.
Freak Folk
Wooden Wand, Vetiver, Devendra Banhart

"Improv Rock and Roll" -- you flew under the radar there; I should have also added "bands that improvise" as an unacceptable clause.

I'm hearing some good stuff...freak folk taking the cake for silliest new genre yet totally weirdly enjoyable. The *ska* genre got thrown in, too. Sweet...keep 'em coming...

Newgrass-YMSB, Tim Obrien,Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Peter Rowan. Great Genre completely different than bluegrass.

I use Mexigrass as sub genre on my ipod. This entails folk tunes from Los Lobos, Peter Rowan stuff with Flaco Jimenez, and SCI latin tunes. It took me a while to justify this genre. But I figure grass refers to roots and/or folk or something like that. Best I got.
