Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers | 2008 Tour Dates, Super Bowl

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers are heading out on tour this summer with Steve Winwood, which is undoubtably killer news for fans of two legendary acts. I got to see a Petty show a few years back at Deer Creek -- Jackson Browne was the opener and actually did an Encore before Petty's set -- and I was truly blown away by the concert. Quite possibly in my Top 10.

I'll probably try and get tickets for Chicago if I'm still around by that time of year. Or you could see him in Indianapolis on July 3 -- definitely a pleasant way to spend the holiday weekend.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers announce an upcoming summer tour that will take the band through the U.S. and Canada. The news comes as the Heartbreakers prepare for the biggest show in live entertainment, the Super Bowl XLII Halftime Show, broadcast live on Fox Sunday, February 3. All tour tickets, with a few exceptions, will go on sale February 4, the day after the Super Bowl festivities. Watched by nearly 140 million people in the U.S. and one billion in 230 countries and territories worldwide, the Halftime Show will give the world a preview of the legendary live act that will storm the U.S. and Canada in a few short months. Read on for the tour dates. Anyone catch that recent Tom Petty documentary, "Running Down a Dream?" I only saw about half of it but it's pretty good from what I saw.

The documentary is actually also a DVD with a live concert in it. Would definitely recommend it. I have seen Petty five times...always puts on a good show.

The DVD is GREAT...there is a companion audio CD as well (with live tracks from the Gainseville concert)

I caught the Last DJ tour in Cedar Rapids in '03. He is GREAT. You can tell he really loves performing live.

What's up with all the midwest and eastern dates? Only 2 shows in California and one in Az? I'm in Utah and I know this is not a hotbed for concerts, but no Denver or Las Vegas? He came here during his tour with Jackson Browne and the show was awesome! I want to see him again with Steve Winwood this time. Does anyone know anything about additional dates?

Whats up with the only stopping once in all of california????

I want to go see them for their LA show but because its only the one show can't find tickets. Any suggestions out there?

to answer a question...steve winwood was the lead singer/guitarist for a band called traffic in the seventies. he also played with eric clapton in blind faith. in short, he's gonna raise the phattiness factor of the show much more than stevie nicks did last time i saw tom petty.
