A Word About Jamcasts

filed under ,

Thanks to one very curious reader that reminded me that I used to have a weekly podcast that I maintained...how silly of me to forget...

Well, I didn't necessarily forget as much as I just sort of decided that I want to take a week or so break from the podcasts.

Truth is, I wasn't sure if anyone was listening, and I guess I'm still not 100% sure that they're breaking the surface and providing a meaningful, worthy, Live Music Blog music experience that I've strived to provide from the beginning.

Therefore, please use the comments here to tell me what you want. If you could produce the Live Music Blog podcasts, here's your chance. Tell me what you like about them, what you hate about them, live music or studio?, mix of studio and live?, etc. etc.

I have a couple ideas and you should see a "change" in the format of the next podcast based on the feedback I've received. Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Dear Justin,

Keep 'em coming. I am always open for new names on the podcast circuit and I relaly dug your latest offering. Speaking for my self: I am a heavy user of the LMA and I am planning to do a series of unsigned artists who deserve to be heard. Maybe we could team up.

Don't stop the podcasts. They are great, especially when you feature a band I have never heard of and it gets me into them. I think alternating between something new and something killer from an established band would be pretty tight.

Keep up the podcasts, particularly ones with lesser known bands. The festival roundups are good too.

I subscribe to your RSS feed and podcast and read your site daily, but have never posted here. So let me take this opportunity to say that I really appreciate all of the hard work and high quality that you put into this site.

What I like most about the podcasts is the introduction to new music. I never would have heard of Toubab Krewe if I hadn't read your site. I guess what I liked less was the run of Phish podcasts, if only because there's a lot of Phish music online already.

I think a mix of studio and live would work. I like the live stuff better, but sometimes I get tired of settling for the inevitably poorer sound quality of a taped show. There's a place for studio recordings when you want to hear a band in high quality sound.

Anyway, thanks again for this site.

i am very non-confrontational, but the Phishcasts, not to be confused with fisticufts, were my favorites, but then again, you are dealing with a man who sleeps with a machete under his pillow...

d00d...etc, i was tearing my hair out waiting for the 3rd part of the secret machines gig. rest assured there are people listening here in the UK.
personally i prefer live stuff, modern studio recordings tend to be just brightly polished turds.
as for the change of format: ogg would be nice:-P

I think that's the first suggestion for a different format.

Does anyone else have a problem with the standard near-CD quality 192kbs mp3 format or should I try multiple?

Good thought, owl...

I think the mp3's are sort of universal and keeps the podcast accessable to everybody with no problems. Conent wise keep it fresh, there's a lot of music out there I havne't heard yet =)
