Phish August 2010 Shows in Telluride One Step Closer

Those potential August 9 & 10 Phish shows in Telluride we mentioned a few weeks back just got one step closer to reality, according to an article in the Telluride Daily Planet. Last step? Official approval from the city council.

Lollapalooza 2010 Lineup Rumors and Leaks

The lineup for Lollapalooza 2010 appears to be leaking like a sieve. Citing “multiple industry sources,” the Daily Swarm claims that Lolla headliners include Lady Gaga, Green Day and a reunited Soundgarden. The Chicago Tribune’s Greg Kot is reporting that Lolla organizers are also in negotiations with Arcade Fire and The Strokes as possible headliners. Kot also mentioned a number of other bands confirmed for Lolla 2010, including: Cut Copy, Dirty Projectors, Hot Chip, Yeasayer, and The xx.

The full lineup announcement isn’t supposed to be due until some time in April, but it looks like Perry Ferrell and C3 Presents may have a tough time keeping it under wraps. All the more fun for all of us though, right?

The Bonnaroo Music Festival has dropped some teases on its Twitter feed about their possible 2010 headliners, hinting at the Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, Bob Dylan, Furthur, and possibly others.

Ah, B’roo, tugging at everyone’s heartstrings via Twitter. Good stuff.

Of course, none of these hints are THAT far out of the realm of possibilities, though the Stones have been fairly persistent in saying they would not be touring in 2010. I definitely would not be surprised by Jay-Z and Furthur, but with Jay now headlining Coachella, it’ll be interesting to see how Bonnaroo differentiates itself and tries to raise the bar in 2010.

It looks like the earlier rumor we posted of a Trey Anastasio solo tour in early 2010 was legit, as we’re seeing a few dates trickle out onto the interwebs. Although there’s nothing officially confirmed from the Trey camp just yet, a number of the rumored dates are looking pretty solid (we’ve included links where available):

With Phish taking a break on large touring plans until Summer 2010, it’ll be interesting to see what other band members’ side projects also go on tour, since we know the rest of these guys can’t sit still for very long.

Phish Festival 8 Update: Kid A Campground

A little birdie just forwarded this image to us:

It appears to be a layout for one of the Festival 8 campgrounds, clearly with a theme of Radiohead’s Kid A, which is one of the potential albums Phish may cover for their Halloween musical costume. There’s been some speculation about how the festival art and layout will reflect the ‘final album’ the band chooses. If this is legit, then that would mean Kid A is on the band’s ‘album shortlist.’

Man, what Phish nerds we are.

We’ve got it on good authority that there may be some Trey Anastasio solo dates early in 2010. They could be more orchestral dates or just Trey’s solo band. We’re not sure about the details just yet, but we’re pretty sure it’s not Phish. Rumors: Phish Fall Tour Dates and NYE in Miami

10/9 Update: Phish fall dates announced were just announced.
10/31 Update: NYE in Miami has also been confirmed

It seems that I’m at about one Phish post a day here on the site and I can’t really see any reason to stopping that, especially now that rumors of a fall tour are starting to pickup. We knew it was a long-shot to call Phish at Big Cypress for NYE, but it looks like it wasn’t too far off considering the rumor that the band will play four nights in Miami for New Year’s Eve. Read on for the dates; I’m told these are close to final and good-to-go on booking early travels plans if you’re so inclined.

Rumor: Phish to Return to Big Cypress on New Year’s Eve

Given that this rumor was published on Twitter, it’s fair for me to open this blog post with something rather apropos given the medium and message.

A little birdie just told us that Phish is going to be returning to Big Cypress in Florida to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their millennium concert celebration. If this rumor gets confirmed, we’ll definitely be planning for a trip to Florida right around that time, which would also allow me (theoretically) to finally catch my first year of Jam Cruise.

I’d see the odds of this happening as rather good, especially given that the local economy already lost their beloved Langerado festival. What do you think? True? Not true?

Update: new rumors are calling for NYE in Miami, not Big Cypress.

Rumor: Phish to Play Fenway Park

This may be old news for some, but the rumors are continuing to heat up that Phish will be playing Fenway Park this summer to open up their tour. BostonTweet reported earlier that he heard on good authority that Phish is indeed playing the venue sometime in the near future.

Awesome.

Update: the AceTicket.com blog seems to think this is confirmed and locked and loaded. We’re still calling it a rumor for now but all signs are pointing to the fact that this would be something damn hard to keep under wraps.

Now that’s a solid list of headliners. It sounds like the rest of the lineup shouldn’t be too shabby either. Here’s what Jim DeRo had to say:

Lollapalooza’s Austin, Texas-based promoters C3 Presents are not scheduled to make their official announcement of the acts performing at this year’s weekend-long music festival in Grant Park until Monday, but the Sun-Times has confirmed through industry sources all of the major artists.

Art-rock giants Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, the reunited Rage Against the Machine, Jack White’s side project the Raconteurs and hometown heroes Wilco and Kanye West will headline the main stages on Aug. 1-3.

The Raconteurs, Wilco and West will each be making their second appearance at the reinvented destination festival. Other repeaters among the more than 100 acts on this year’s bill are Gnarls Barkley, the Black Keys, Broken Social Scene, G. Love & Special Sauce, Blues Traveler and Mates of State.

Quite a few of the other acts — including many of the most promising — have earlier performed at Chicago’s two independently produced music festivals, Pitchfork and Intonation. These include Bloc Party, Cat Power, Stephen Malkmus, Girl Talk, Kid Sister, Office, the Cool Kids, Battles, the Go! Team, Jamie Lidell and Grizzly Bear.

Advance three-day passes are now on sale for a limited time for $190 (after which the price increases to $205) at www.lollapalooza.com.

As I said before, this is some serious shit.
