Wilco just rolled through California and Saturday night brought them to the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. This was my first time at the storied venue and I was fortunate enough to score a photo pass from their PR company, so I brought my SLR and shot the show from the pit.

June 24, 2009

After many festivals together, this year’s Mountain Jam was going to be different. This year my wife and I would have a six-month old child with us, our son Harry. As I discussed in an earlier post, we had no idea what to expect.

On Sunday night I witnessed my first Grizzly Bear show besides seeing them briefly last year at Lollapalooza, which funny enough seemed like it was two to three years ago at this point even if it was last August. I have already digressed.
Anyway, the opening band, Here We Go Magic, totally laid [...]

My buddy Pete went to Sasquatch! this past weekend and he showed me his roll of photos while we were waiting for Animal Collective to start. He got some really good stuff and told me he’d give us a nice writeup of the whole weekend so I thought I’d do this post first to [...]

Our friend Josh Kuckens went to see the Marco Benevento Trio (with Reed Mathis on bass and Andrew Barr on drums) at The Westcott Theatre in Syracuse, NY on Thursday night, and he ended up getting some really incredible photos of the band in action. And thanks to taper AndyB and the Internet Archive, [...]

From The Pit: The Dead @ Izod Center, NJ 4/28/09

May 4, 2009

The Dead rolled into New Jersey’s Meadowlands on Tuesday night for the first of two nights in the swamp. Although I’ve seen Phil and Friends a bunch of times (a great band), and seen two Ratdog shows (which was two too many), this was to be my first time seeing The Dead, the 2009 [...]

Photos: Fleet Foxes @ Metro, Chicago 10/12/08

October 28, 2008

A few Sundays back, I was among the lucky few to attend the Fleet Foxes show here in Chicago. It was a perfect a show for a Sunday  – tangible energy from the crowd and melodic music from the band. Yet, I caught Fleet Foxes back in July at Pritzker Pavilion and was a little [...]

Seattle’s REVERBfest: Photos and Review

October 8, 2008

I had a chance this last Saturday to go check out Seattle’s REVERBfest, a local-acts-only single-day music festival featuring 64 bands at 9 Ballard neighborhood venues. I managed to catch Pufferfish, Lonesome Rhodes & The Good Company, Boat, Laura “Piece” Kelley Jahn, and Truckasauras. Photos and reviews after the jump.

September 29, 2008

The night after I saw Fleet Foxes, I went back to The Independent again to see Menomena. It was an okay show and they didn’t really do anything new from what I saw, but I got some good photos in the meantime.

From the Pit: Weezer @ Madison Square Garden, 9/24/08

September 29, 2008

I was surprised to find out that in the fifteen years that Weezer has been putting out some of hardest and catchiest pop music around, last Wednesday night’s show was their first time headlining the storied arena. Go figure.

Monolith 2008 Recap: Day One Photos

September 25, 2008

A first trip to a historic place is always special. The first day of the Monolith Festival at Red Rocks was especially nice. A cool, sunny day highlighted the already picturesque venue all afternoon. Adding to the atmosphere was probably the best single festival day of music I’ve had all summer. There were no uninspired [...]

Fleet Foxes @ The Independent, 9/19/08

September 20, 2008

Last night’s Fleet Foxes show at The Independent was a truly magnificent affair. The opener Sleepy Sun was wildly classic and rockin’ and really gave off a good live energy. This band totally has a career ahead of itself. Next up was some old timey fella with a fiddle and a banjo [...]

Photos: Nine Inch Nails @ Red Rocks 9/2/08

September 15, 2008

Chad Fahnestock went to see NIN and Deerhunter at Red Rocks back a week or so ago and sent us these photos.
Nine Inch Nails gave one of those performances that, when it’s over, you immediately get back to the car, grab the iPod and find a track from that night’s set-list, trying to extend the [...]
