We’ve got a few more photosets to get posted from this year’s ACL Fest, but we were definitely a bit more mellow on our coverage of the third and final day of the festival. At least I was. A bit of that fatigue sets in and you start to make a few decisions on when to chill and relax, so I was psyched to see a few bands on Sunday’s lineup that allowed me to float around because I had seen them before (which, in turn, allowed me to chill). Broken Social Scene was definitely one of those bands and the first one I shot, and I got to see some of the “classics” like “7/4 (Shoreline)” and “Major Label Debut.” Fun times.

Somehow still standing from our late Saturday night -> Saints game -> Royal Street bender, we hopped down to The House of Blues to see Dave 1 and P-Thugg’s first visit to the Big Easy. Their fiery ball of 80′s/electronic party music brought out a pretty solid Sunday night crowd, and the pulsing beats and [...]

We might as well warn you that we’re probably going to start blogging about Skrillex quite a bit around these parts. Although not everyone in my crew shared my sentiment, I was pretty psyched on his set at ACL Fest this past weekend. It was my first time ever seeing the youngin’ and he did [...]

PHOTOS / REVIEW: Stevie Wonder @ ACL Fest 2011 (DAY TWO)

Reviews
Thumbnail image for PHOTOS / REVIEW: Stevie Wonder @ ACL Fest 2011 (DAY TWO)

For months I have been giddy with excitement to see Stevie Wonder’s headlining Saturday night performance at ACL, but apparently so were the 80,000 attendees.  Half hour before his set began, the main stage lawn was already jam packed with a gridlock of sweaty festival goers trying to position themselves to catch a breeze and/or a good view of the stage to catch a glimpse of Stevie Wonder himself.

LMB NYC: This Week’s Concert Calendar – Sept 19-25

Concert Calendar
Thumbnail image for LMB NYC: This Week’s Concert Calendar – Sept 19-25

As fall comes into full swing this week, we’re getting a really nice mix of interesting shows in NYC with some especially noteworthy bands in the indie rock and folk realms. Starting with the more eccentric artists, there’s tUnE-YaRds @ Le Poisson Rouge (tonight), Cymbals Eat Guitars @ Music Hall of Williamsburg (Wed), the triumphant return of the Rapture @ Webster Hall (Thurs), and Superhuman Happiness doing two nights at Zebulon in Williamsburg (Fri-Sat). For something eclectic but a bit more folk-oriented, there’s lots to choose from, including Beirut @ T5 (Thurs), Wilco @ Central Park (Thurs-Fri), Fleet Foxes @ the Williamsburg Waterfront (Sat), and Megafaun @ Mercury Lounge (Sat-Sun). If the Indie Folk thing’s not your bag, there’s also plenty of dance-oriented jams with Lotus playing T5 and the return of Particle at Brooklyn Bowl (both Saturday).
