Moon Taxi Fall Tour Dates, New “Cabaret” Video

Tour Dates
Thumbnail image for Moon Taxi Fall Tour Dates, New “Cabaret” Video

Four years after releasing their debut full-length album Melodica, Nashville jungle rockers Moon Taxi went back into the studio early this year and put together a drastically different, left-turn LP2 that should be out sometime early next year and is likely to turn some heads of both their fanbase and the uninitiated. For one, some of the drum tracks on here are prominent in a jumbo-sized, industrial-rock kinda way, giving a few of these songs an enormous rhythmic base to ride on. You can tell how much this band has grown and how well they listen to what’s going on around them, as the record presents a nice synthesis of modern electronic-infused jam, funk, reggae and psychedelia, with the highly-accessible end result being a fully developed, signature sound for these insanely talented proggers from Nashville. Today, Moon Taxi released the first song on the new record (the ending 45-second outro is one of the major highlights of the record), putting out the video for “Cabaret” on their web site. Continue on for tour dates and go here for a review of their ridiculous 2010 NYE show at Exit/In in Music City.

Overall the festival was a huge success, bringing solid headliners together with a very well-curated collection of smaller bands as well as some delicious food and perfect weather in the picturesque urban setting of Atlanta’s Piedmont Park. Early signals indicate that it was profitable for the organizers, which is a good sign that Music Midtown will be back next year, maybe even as a 2-day event…

As fans populated Watkins Glen International in central New York for July 4th weekend, something significant was coming back together. Though Festival 8 on the West Coast was blissful in 2009, Super Ball—two years later—represented the true return of the Phish festival. With art installations of the like we hadn’t seen since IT in 2003, [...]

To celebrate the massive catalog re-release and global celebration of Pink Floyd’s music and legacy, LMB will be hosting it’s own Pink Floyd Week with posts from the editors and a few contributors about their connection to the band’s music, favorite albums and any other Floyd-related anecdotes and memories that come to mind. Please share your memories of any shows you may have attended in the comments section. This is the band that pushed pop music into outer space. And from what I understand, they were pretty great live too.
