Happy New Year, everyone! We’re hanging out in our pad in San Francisco, rocking Couch Tour ’10 legit style and waiting for the LivePhish.com stream to connect on my HD TV. I’m getting nervous because I still can’t see inside and there’s clearly a few other folks that haven’t gotten on yet, but we’re still a few minutes from show time and we’ll be following along with the setlist anyway. Please be safe in your partying tonight, folks. See you in 2011.

They remain one of the only bands I “trust” with a lot of the that litter the setlists of any jamband’s New Year’s Eve run . They can handle “Roundabout” easy. Pfft, I’ve seen them do “Hot for Teacher” also. Nobody else can touch it.

Well, okay, STS9 doing “Shakedown Street” is pretty epic, too.

Last night we were all rocking along to the live webcast from Madison Square Garden; I was loving every second of it. The sound, the setlist, the professional on-the-fly cuts…everything seemed perfect. And really, it was on the stream. Turns out that during “Camel Walk,” though, the main PA at MSG cut out and left the audience scrambling to follow along with CK5 as he drove the band forward through the song.

Love that there’s still some crowd singing along here. And obviously this happens to the best of them. It reminds me of the Radiohead Outside Lands set a few years back where this happened more than once.

Phish is just moments away from taking the stage at Madison Square Garden for the first of three nights surrounding New Year’s Eve. Right now I’m sitting on my couch and waiting for the LivePhish.com webcast to begin, where I can see a solid view of the crowd from the band’s point of view. I’m excited to see how this goes down.

Tune in here for the setlist and follow along on Twitter at @LiveMusicBlog, @YEMblog, and @Phish_FTR. Or the all-in hashtag and band requested moniker for the weekend: #phishNYE. This should be fun.

Last place... :)

began their holiday run last night at the DCU Center, so videos are starting to crop up and the quality is impressive as always. Read on to catch the videos that start the second set.

I picked “Mike’s > Weekapaug” in my Daily Dose yesterday, and the band provided a rehearsed transition into “Mound” as an icing on my first night’s cake. The stream crapped out during a lot of the “Seven Below > What’s the Use” section, though. Bummer.

While I wasn’t at the show and that’s an obvious downer, I’m also a little relieved I’m not battling the massive snowstorm out there to get to the shows. With Couch Tour going legit anyway, I’m not sure I need to spend the same money on those shows right now. And last night’s reviews are mixed so far. There were good segments for sure, but it seems to be the warmup show to the run and we should see a more comfortable band on stage tonight.

If you were there, tell us how it was in the comments or @LiveMusicBlog… READ MORE
