November 2010
Hey everyone, sorry for the radio silence around here. Our whole crew has been locked up in Atlantic City following an especially un-heady citation that we were all issued on the Boardwalk on Halloween night. Everything was going so well before Moses came through and parted the sea of wooks…

Then shit got real. #awwHELLno
Our buddy @Phortin was found guilty first as he was cited for “Orderly Conduct,” something that has absolutely zero place at a Phish show and something we will continually shame him with on tours to come. Thankfully, he got a Seven Below discount which knocked the fine down to $4.20, assuming of course that it’s paid within the 46 Days allotted. All of this was straight from the mouth of Gamehendge Police, the security force that was patrolling the Boardwalk and issuing multiple citations to anyone going overboard and talking about Widespread Panic or possessing an un-opened container on their person. I’m actually pretty lucky I didn’t get busted for Improper Use of Air Guitar / Air Drumming, something that I have a hard time keeping under control when the band is on stage.
We’ll have plenty more to share once we get our memory cards back from lock-up. Be on the lookout for this guy at the Holiday run…

Marco Benevento & Friends @ Trump Plaza, Atlantic City 10/30/10 Late-Night
This past weekend featured three of the best Phish shows I’ve ever been fortunate enough to witness, but there’s one event that got pretty overshadowed by all the madness on the Boardwalk. There were two after-parties booked at the Trump Plaza next door to the Boardwalk Hall where Phish was booked, the first being a Karl Denson after-show following the Friday night sets and the second being a Marco Bevenento & Friends after-show the morning following Phish’s “Get the Led Out” concert. Our crew made it to the Marco show, something we wouldn’t miss given the stellar lineup he had planned backing him up; it was none other than Marc Friedman from the Slip and Surprise Me Mr. Davis and local boy Billy Martin from MMW.
After the opener of “Greenpoint,” always my favorite, the band tore through a set of Marco originals and jazz-wank standards and played to a posh-ass nightclub in a Donald Trump themed hotel. Even my bottled water had Trump’s face on it — Trump Ice — and the show was a ridiculously good time by all standards I could ever apply. My buddy Mike Kochan got some amazing shots from the show, too. Read on for his full set…

By now you’ve probably already seen the setlist from last night’s Phish show in Atlantic City, a triumphant run to finish their fall tour with an homage and nod to a band that’s always been a big influence on the band: Little Feat. Right at 6pm when the doors opened, our crew debated whether or not we wanted to “know” what album the band would cover before we actually made it inside and got our own copy of the Phishbill. Reason succumbed to madness and we used our coveted 3.0 technology (i.e. Twitter) and got notification that the band would be covering Waiting for Columbus, a live album by Little Feat. What a curveball.
So our crew suited up…

…and made our way into the show for an awesome night of music. I’ll be writing up more thoughts once I have another chance to digest what I saw and listened to, but I’ll just say that you were either there or you weren’t. These concerts were not meant to be experienced through an iPod; this was easily some of the three best nights of music I’ve ever witnessed and I am forever humbled by how much this entire thing means to me and how it constantly drives me insane with happiness. Read on for the setlist that you may have missed… READ MORE
