I’ve been a bit busy and radio silent over the past few days as I continue to get settled in my new place and new day job. But life is super good here at LIVE MUSIC BLOG.com HQ; I’m now a proud resident of the famed Lower Haight neighborhood and my roommates are some serious live music junkies. As I was moving in, half the crew was in New Orleans for the second week of Jazz Fest spending time not sleeping and punishing their livers to no end. They caught Skerik like 50 times and managed to be standing front row when Stanton Moore decided to bust out a drum solo using as many of Galactic’s instruments he could incorporate at the same time:
Expect plenty more from me and the crew in the near future, including some rehashing of live music events past. We’ll all be heading to High Sierra this year and hope to have some serious party sessions documented for all of your amusement, but we have so many photos from last year that never made its way into the public domain.

Hey! Could you look at Vienna Teng in some of the artists you’ve looked over? She’s fabulous and she’s toured with Shawn Colvin, India.Arie, Duncan Sheik and the Indigo Girls, but seems to get overlooked by the blog scene.
Her music is similar to this, but with vocals. It has a calming effect with its eclectic tone complimented perfectly by her soothing voice and harmonies (similar to Tori Amos in some respects) and the soft piano accompaniment. It’s very dreamlike. Actually, I remember reading a review in the San Francisco Chronicle that described her songs as dreams because they recall such powerful emotions.
She’s touring now and she’s AMAZING live. She’s currently in CA, and if you’re interested in checking her out (and live in SoCal), you can come see her perform!

Thanks and Enjoy!

Love Stanton more and love your site. Thanks for posting this. I used to live in Cole Valley right next to the Haight and saw Galactic at the Fillmore almost ten years ago. They are in Chicago at least once a year and try to catch them at the Vic if possible. Cheers!
