I don’t think Superfly puts any effort into these bookings anymore. They have the same bands play during jazzfest every year.

      And they sell-out every year.

@danfun – yeah i’d agree there, but i’ve often just wondered if that really is a demand thing. like that market can easily support that crew of musicians, but others wouldn’t fare so well.

but with les claypool on the list, that kinda throws out my theory anyway.

Well I think that there is a group of fans that will go see Mule every year.I personally am not a fan but I get that booking. And I am sure Galactic will sell out but they already play like 10 shows during Jazzfest already so that isn’t really isn’t anything special.
I was kind of hoping Superfly would work with MMJ to book a night show since they have worked together for a while. But I am starting to think a solo Jim James set at Preservation Hall may be int he works since he is playing with them on Sunday. Preservation Hall’s night shows have been some of the best shows I have seen over the past few year at Jazzfest. This will be my first year going for the entire festival and I couldn’t be more excited. If you guys need someone to cover it let me know.

By the way, meant to respond to this like weeks ago — yeah, man — we want the coverage. You’ve always done amazing work with that festival.
