Well I’m going to give it a shot again this evening. All the standard disclaimers apply – I’m going to get songs wrong (or more likely, not be able to identify them) particularly during the 2nd set. Please do not take the ‘live’ list as gospel. This time I’m going to avoid using my phone until I walk into the Beacon to reserve as much battery-power as I can. Pictures will be added once I’m home from the show. Have a happy and safe NYE everyone! READ MORE
December 2009
Phish played another amazing show last night in Miami. The third night of the four-night run will go down in the record books as Phish played their 242nd unique song this year, which breaks the previous record of 240 in 1998. The band is clearly feeling confident as they end a super strong 2009 tonight. I’m jealous for my friends that are there attending, but thanks to the streamers I’ve gotten to catch a lot of this action live, including the absolutely nasty “Back on the Train” that went down last night. Kudos, Phish. You’re officially back. Like, 1000% back. READ MORE
This is my first try at live-blogging from the Beacon, and my first try with this phone. If things don’t go perfectly, please accept my apologies in advance. READ MORE

For those of us who will be watching the Phish New Year’s Eve run in Miami from the sidelines, tonight is the night it all begins down there…
The Miami Herald offers a nice preview with an interview with Trey via phone:
The Miami shows culminate in Phish’s first New Year’s Eve concert since 2003, which was also at the AAA. The band, which reunited earlier this year after a four-year hiatus, performed at Big Cypress to ring in 2000, so South Florida obviously holds a special attraction for the veteran Vermont musicians.
Who’s got my heady stream?
On a wintry Saturday night here in NYC, I was lucky enough to catch the latest version of Garage a Trois at the Bowery Ballroom. The group – which in the past has featured Stanton Moore, Skerik, Mike Dillon and Charlie Hunter – is currently touring with Marco Benevento in place of Hunter, making for a killer combo. Although I thought I’d miss Hunter’s patented 8-string guitar work, Marco was certainly a suitable alternative for handling his normal duties.
We’ve been a little slow on the site lately thanks to my new full-time job out here in the Bay, but that isn’t stopping us from welcoming friends to the site to start dropping some contributions in their own way. First up is our long-time friend, Ross McKillop, a recent New York City transplant from Vancouver.
Hi, my name is Ross, and I’m a live music addict.
So this is my first post on the Live Music Blog. I’d like to thank Justin for giving me the platform to bather on about the concerts I go to, the music I listen to, and the (generally poor) pictures I take…
I suppose we should get this out of the way up front. I’m not a professional music writer/reviewer. Never will be. All of my “reviews”, comments and thoughts come as a fan, and always will. If I seem unprofessional at times, that’s because I am.
Lets get started. READ MORE
