While much of our attention has been on Phish’s Festival 8, there were plenty of other great shows played last night to celebrate Halloween, and we’re gradually getting caught up on a few of them today. Pearl Jam’s fourth and final show at Philly’s Spectrum Arena looks to be one of the more epic Halloween shows that was played last night.
…Saturday’s three-and-a-half-hour Halloween set did include oddities — from a roadie dressed in full-body rat costume for “Rats,” to a boxing-ring girl giving periodic World Series updates (while the Phillies were winning, anyway), to “Sweet Lew,” a never-before-played-live homage to Kareem Abdul Jabbar, with Vedder dribbling a basketball into a mic…And that’s not even counting when the band came out in full Devo attire for a complete, enthusiastic rendition of “Whip It.” Red bucket hats included.
Pearl Jam as Devo? Yep, awesome. Check out the video:

I was at this show on halloween. It was nothing short of amazing. I have wanted to see PJ forever and this was my first time seeing them. Now I know why. If there was ever a time and a place to see them, THIS WAS IT!!! THE GRAND CLOSING OF THE SPECTRUM THEATRE, how grand it was! Also traveling from Ny it was equally fabulous that the NYY should win game 3 of the world series that night. What a fabulous nite, love the new album! cant say enough about how great of a band they are. Still going strong all these years…
