Phish has continued to put some interesting setlist choices together with their concert last night in Portland, Maine.

Set I: Possum > Down With Disease, Nellie Cane, Weigh, When The Circus Comes, Kill Devil Falls, Water In The Sky, Stash, Meat, Undermind, Mike’s Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove Set II: The Moma Dance, Rock and Roll > Light > Crimes of the Mind > Pebbles and Marbles, 2001 > Golgi Apparatus > Cavern > Run Like An Antelope Encore: Freebird, Carini > Waste
“Crimes of the Mind > Pebbles and Marbles” is a perfect example of how this band is operating these days. Keep it up, boys…
The band takes two nights off and then plays three sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden to close out the week. I wish I could be there for those shows, so you’ll probably see me online and attending the concert in spirit.
Tonight’s Phish show from Albany just began and I’m hanging out over at PhishTwit where they have the streams up. Here’s the live stream and the setlist updates:
Set I: Party Time, Stealing Time From The Faulty Plan, Uncle Pen, Sanity, Foam, Walk Away, NICU, Alaska, Split Open and Melt, Joy, Vultures, Backwards Down the Number Line Set II: Seven Below > Ghost, Cool It Down > Gotta Jibboo, Let Me Lie, Wolfman’s Brother, Julius Encore: You Enjoy Myself
The message boards are exploding with activity this morning after Phish’s show in Albany last night. The band busted out a few rarer songs and brought a second set that started with “My Friend, My Friend” and “Golden Age” by TV on the Radio. Plus they played one of my favorite songs by the band that I thought I’d never see them play — “Tomorrow’s Song” off the Undermind release — and it gives me hope that we’ll continue to see the band reach into the stuff they’ve already done very well. I’m calling “Access Me” opener tonight.

Marco Benevento just put out this exclusive bonus footage to promote his first-ever DVD release: “Marco Benevento & Friends – Live in NYC: The Sullivan Hall Residency,” which we covered here.
Live Nation and iTunes just announced a partnership to sell live digital downloads from concerts at various Live Nation venues. Eliot from Wired’s Epicenter blog has a bit more info on the new offerings, which also include concert video as well as audio:
The new section represents another breakthrough in the promising area of live digital music, which has been hampered by complicated rights issues even as other forms of music proliferate legally online…Live Nation recorded the shows at over 80 of its venues, “which have been transformed into next-generation ‘wired’ live recording studios” according to the announcement. Live Nation will sell these recordings exclusively through iTunes….iTunes Live Music (iTunes link) also lists Apple’s more extensive live archive, including recordings by Sonic Youth, Regina Spektor, Pete Yorn, The Rapture, Kings of Leon, Gnarls Barkley, The New Pornographers and others…It also includes concert videos. Apple had already racked up video exclusives of shows by It Might Get Loud, The Killers, Kings of Leon and other bands, selling them in iTunes a week before they were available on DVD.
Andy Samberg and co. do the “Mellow Show with Jack Johnson” and Dave Matthews shows up as Ozzy Osbourne: Whether or not you dig DMB’s music, you gotta admit that Dave does a solid Ozzy impression. By the way, is it just me, or does Samberg’s Jack Johnson impression slowly morph into Mike Meyers as [...]
Lotus just released this video of their first show at the Denver Fillmore: Fillmore Theater Denver, CO. October 17, 2009 from LotusVibes on Vimeo. I have to say it’s pretty cool to see these guys stepping up to larger venues like the Denver Fillmore, which has a capacity of 3,700. That’s a killer headlining spot. [...]
Photographer Michael Marantz put together an amazing photo compilation from Phish Festival 8 and it’s been making the rounds between me and my crew. Even though you may have seen it already, I strongly encourage you to watch it again this morning. It’s a great way to start the week. From the artist: This is [...]
Happy Monday morning, dudes. Back in late September, I caught a fantastic Brothers Past show at the Bowery Ballroom here in NYC. The band just released a soundboard recording of that show to the Live Music Archive for free download, which I highly recommend checking out.
U2 will headline the 2010 Glastonbury Festival. It makes sense that the biggest music festival in the world gets the biggest rock band in the world, but it’s still huge news. I guess the band will have to go without its behemoth of a stage this one time.
Editor’s note: For Summer 2010 Dates, check here. Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Jay Lane, Joe Russo, John Kadlecik and Jeff Chimenti, are heading back out on the road as “Furthur” this February and March. The band will be playing some key stops in the Northeast and Southeast, but judging by the later shows in Portland, [...]
Bonnaroo just announced dates for next year’s festival, which will be held on June 10-13, 2010 in the same spot in Manchester, TN that they host the festival every year. Better get a new pair of mud boots and start stocking up on energy bars because Bonnaroo will return this coming June to its 700-acre [...]

We totally have a super man-crush on Mr. Miner of PhishThoughts.com. This guy consistently stays one step ahead of the Phish community and always seems to have his pulse on the ground for what the fans want to hear after a show. He’s revolutionized the notion of hearing a Phish show blind to carry part [...]
